[shadow=red,left,300]I've got two ideas for robes. I like them both and I think one would make a better formal and the other just something to wear around. The informal one is sorta an opened front poncho with a hood. With 4 wood toggles down each side and 4 down the front to close it up to bad weather. Probably made from some flannel with a lining of cotton or something like that. The other is a turkish riding jacket style with a hood. (Basically an actual Old Republic robe.) Thank Kaytarn for that last bit. It was his idea and I'm stealing it. Probably made from wool (or fleece with a flannel lining if I can't find wool.)[/shadow]

Humm good ideas. I like. What's cool, who knows what sort of robes and garments Jedi actually have on hand. You have to deal with all sorts of weather. SHoot one guy on the COuncil has a sleevless robe. Jedi over Knight's rank can wear bascially what they wish, but not buck naked.

Jen, A Jedi can design their own garments AFTER she or he passed the Trials and reached Knight status. Check out the Star Wars visual dictionaries for Episode I and II. The Council members and any Jedi, Knight status and over wore differant garments from the Padawans. Bustler Swan has leather tabbords and a light green tunic and pants. That's kinda' simalar to the jedi master who has a fuzzy eared type headdress on her head. :-) Another Council member has a narrow, longsleeves tunic, and a sleeveless brown robe. I also checked the Jedi source book for the role playing games, the Jedi therein, abopve Knight status had varients of the "Traditional "robes.
There is sort of "uniform" but nothing really strict. Example: Under tunic(Optional-not all have it), Over tunic,(earth tones), Belt(Need this :-) .) Obi, some ahve this some don't.(I think it loosk good.), pants. or a skirt, Boots, and the over robe.
Ok course I can't figure out why the Twi'Like Jedi is wearing form fiting pants and a mid drift type shirt. She's a Knight at least. Does this help Jen? If not I can explain more.

Ahh the endless coustume debate. Then you have the NJO and expanded universe. This is were it gets tricky. See in the NJO Jedi are kinda spars being rebuilt wear tunics but its just tricky must meditate and research before I on=pen my mouth. Lets just say Jedi have big prices on their heads in the NJO or so it seems. But I need to go back and read up. Ive been reading OR stuff with young obi wan so.

Here are some pics of my Leia styled costume from Return of the Jedi. It is the outfit she and Luke wear during the speeder bike chase. I wore it for the ROTJ Special Edition Premier. groups.msn.com/LongviewSW/costumes.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=172groups.msn.com/LongviewSW/costumes.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=173groups.msn.com/LongviewSW/costumes.msnw?action=ShowPhoto&PhotoID=174It began as a basic rectangle with neck hole cut out. Then my mom made a 3" strip the width of the neck hole. The hood was sewn to this and then it was sewn to the neck hole. Later we added large button holes on the front were it touched my sides. This allowed the belt to come through and gave better arm mobility. We hadn't done that yet in the picture. The back of the poncho swung free with the belt under it. So it looked more like a cape in back. I would take a more recent pic but it is in my storage. Maybe this will give you an idea of how to get started on your poncho Jenc. Just keep in mind that closing it on the side will affect your arm holes and mobility. I also have a plain light brown poncho I wore a few times while camping out for EpII tickets. The fun part with it was I could let my friends with out costume borrow it and instantly they appeared in costume. I have a pic on the main page of my Star Wars site of me with three friends. The one on the front left (in front of me) is wearing it. groups.msn.com/LongviewSW--)-------- Jedi Jen
