I have like, dedicated a good chunk of my near future to this, since I've prledged myself to do a full nine books, plus mini-books for inbetween the main episodes...Gah, I am an overachiever.
The basic premise is simple, yet at the same time, complex. Me and a lot of my friends were NOT happy with just how disjointed the Prequels felt, and none of us liked the creepy feeling we got from a 9/10 year old Anakin hitting on 14 year old Padme. I also did not like that the entire Universe suddenly now revolved around Anakin, when there had been no hint of that in the Classic Trilogy. Hence, I got talked into rewriting the prequels, and then into doing a full nine "episodes".
The project is called "Star Wars Rebirth", since it is meant to be a reborn version of the entire saga. The biggest changes are evident in the first volume which covers the prequels; Anakin is now a fifteen year old drag-racer from Coruscant who's been stranded on Tatooine by conartists and DOES have a father, Obi-Wan is a former Padawan of Yoda's to follow the exact wording used in the classic trilogy, and Padme is a Padawan under Qui-Gon. Dooku is in the series from Episode 1, still part of the Council, and there's quite a Jedi history to the Skywalkers which goes back thousands of years. The second volume changes mostly consist of visual changes and the time gap between Eps 3 and 4 being tightened down to fifteen years. The Third volume, as planned, which deal with Thrawn, the Reborn Emperor, and the return of the True Sith.
The story is hosted on my site, and I'm right now over halfway through Book 1, with notes and everything being taken constantly on things I plan for the other books. I'm always looking for extra ideas, and beta-readers, and one of the things I plan is full cover posters and art sketchs to help with the visuals. Oh, an dthe link is always availsble through my sig image.
