Although luke did get it longer than mace you saw how powerful the blast was in episode 3 compared to 6, not to mention palpatine apparently fed off anakins hatred torwards mace and made it even more powerful(I guess thats what he did concidering he yelled POWERRRR! after anakin chopped of maces arm). OH and does anyone find it ironic that when lan first played palpatine he was younger playing a very old man in the second time he played him he was older playing a younger version of the same guy?

Lets not forget he shot yoda with a quick blast and he flew across the room almost unconcious.

What about this....
We all thought Mace flew to his death. But think about Anakin's dive in AOTC, and that the Jedi are trained to remain calm no matter what the scenario. Now Mace is a member of the Senior Council, so he could have remained calm, and found his way to the bottom alive. However he needed to recover some from the lightning, and he also probably heard about, or watched the Jedi Purge take place. Now I remember reading somewhere that Coruscant had lower levels that were populated by people who wouldn't have been effected by the Empire and such like that. So maybe he made his way to the lower levels, and the reason that Sidious and Vader never felt him is much the same reason Yoda couldn't feel his death individually. So maybe he thought that all hope was lost and remained on Coruscant's lower levels, meditating on the Force, becoming stronger with it untill he became one with it when he passed on.
I am not saying this happened, but it's possible.... although he probably died.

I pretty much think he was dead when he flew out the window because he no longer yelled and just had a blank stare on his face like he was brain dead.

Well.. wouldn't you have a blank stare if the person you watched grow up had turned on you. I would think the realization would have shocked me too.

When I get the DVD, I'm going to look at it. But Anakin only chopped off his arm; I wouldn't expect him to die from that. It was most likely the fall that killed him. He was just too wounded to save himself. And Palpatine could have had a squad of clones finish him off if he weren't dead.

i agree with ani-chay that a squad of troopers where sent to finish the job.

Well and yoda felt it.. That's what I am getting from it.. As soon as that happened it went right to yoda.

Now that I've looked at the DVD it really looks like Mace died. Confirmation to me:
-- Yoda reacted right afterward. -- Palpatine's last blast at Mace was pretty severe; Mace's expression looked terminal to me. -- Having him live through all that would just chearpen the whole scene.
Yeah, I think he's dead.

Yes for these reason too I belive.. but even without the last two on this list and just going on yoda's reaction that's all the proof I need.
