jedi emotion right iv noticed this in the all of the movies the different phases obiwan goes through
ep1:confusion obviously a padawan has this trying to learn the ways of the force etc
ep2:grumpy,serious it must be his time of the year then because he is so miserable during this movie it was kind of upsetting
ep3:happy,smiley,chilled out : now this is what i like to see a jedi that is calm smiling and still kicks ass
ep4:still relitivly happy but with a sense of seriousness to him
ep5:a little grumpy and serious again
ep6 happy and at piece with himself

i think you should swap episode 3 and 4 around. In RotS he constantly has a trade mark scowl, like he has the whole galaxy on his shoulders. In ANH however, he never seems to be worried at any point, except when Alderaan explodes (forgiveable ). He's even calm and collected as Vader swings a lightsaber through him!

Anakin's smile in ROTS is much better. In ATOC it's hormonal and predatory. In ATOC Anakin chafed against Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan was irritated right back at him. Obi-Wan is fine and relaxed when he's with Dex or on Camino. But in ROTS, Anakin is less pissy as a full Jedi, though not that much more mature. He's not a constant irritant to everyone and cooperates better with Obi-Wan, who looks a little war-weary.

He smiles when he's teasing Obi-Wan. Also during the battle oF Coruscant.

ha ha yeah "Enough witht he jokes Obi Wan, he's doing the best he can" "Did I say anything?" "He's trying" "I didnt say anything!" The rapport between Anakin and Obi-Wan was definitely a highlight in the movie, and was even better in the book Which makes the whole thing all that much more sad

Obi: "Oh, it's you!"
Ani: What was that all about?"
Obi: "Well r2 has been----"
Ani: "No loose wire jokes."
Obi: "did I say anything?"
Ani: "he's trying"
Obi: "I didn't say anything"

Obi starts off a brave and talented young Jedi and an awesome fighter. But then he's saddled with this immense guilt over losing Qui Gon which he blames himself for (They should have gone into this in AOTC, it might have made it good). Plus he's left with a Paduan he didn't want and can't handle. He's barely graduated from paduan himself and yet a small, petulant and immature child is hanging around him all the time, despereate for attention and validation, and knowing he's more talented than his teacher.
His solution: be a stern and almost innefectual grouch.
He has NO control over Anakin as an adult at any time. Anakin may like him deep down, but he doesn't respect him.
Obi most likely feels his life would have been quite different if Qui Gon had lived and trained the boy, instead he himself is bound to the chosen ones fate and doomed to spend his life in Anakin's shadow.
As a result during the clone wars, now Anakin's equal and releaved of teaching duties he began to study Anakin's aggressive style more closely and both of their lightsaber skills improve vastly. the cautious and formulaic movements of EPII are dispensed with in favour of a return to his younger, more stylish and acrobatic style. He makes sure he can match Anakin as a fighter and that is why the final duel is so riveting.
Obi mimics Anakin's energetic skill and uses it to deadly effect. While Anakin is lethally impressive and uses his saber with a violent flourish, Obi has an economical and powerful style that is attuned to interception, deflection and redirection.
By the end of III Obi has unlocked a little of the dark side within him, harkening back to his fight with Maul. It is this that allows him to without hesitation maim his closest companion and brother and leave him for dead.
The next twenty years are spent regretting every mistake he ever made. it's no wonder he handles Luke with kid gloves. he is a sad and humble old man, and it is no cruelty to him when Vader ends his life. he dies safe in the knowledge that he has done all he can to attone for his terrible lapse in judgement. The new hope is kept alive by Obi even in death and without his guidance Anakin and Luke would be lost. He is essentially the third most important character in the Star wars trilogy.
