*SPOILER WARNING*
I saw Ep III two days ago, and I can't believe how well the casting worked out.... when I saw episode 1 I was like... thats obi wan?? it looks nothing like him!, but by the end of ep III i could have sworn I was staring at a young alec guinness... the same goes with anakin and padme, natalie portman looks so much like leia near the end, and there was definitely something about Anakin that made think about luke... i cant put my finger on it though.
This thread is really just me getting an excuse to rant about how brilliant ROTS was... I have to admit I was a little disappointed with eps I and II, but now ROTS has bumped off ROTJ as my favourite SW movie... there was just so emotion and darkness in it that you couldnt help being moved, maybe its just because Ive seen so many movies that have a happy ending, but ROTS really got to me. I came tangibly close to tears watching it, especially during the Jedi purge... Aalya and the younglings... it really made me look at Vader in a different light, and made me truly think about how evil and consuming the dark side is.
Yoda's failure... Obi Wan's victory against Vader, which was essentially a failure for him, Mace Windu and poor Kit Fisto (one of my favourite Jedi).. at one point it was almost too much for me. It has been a long time since any movie has moved me the way ROTS has, and I think it was mostly because of these messageboards... since becoming a costumer I've put a great deal of my time into researching and investigating the back stories behind all of the Jedi... each of those characters were as strong in my mind as any Obi Wan or Luke... and when they got betrayed and murdered I felt as if the movie was losing main characters... and all in such a short period of time.
Maybe I'm the only one who felt this way, but watching ROTS was truly an experience for me.. and one I plan on repeating many times.
