the ancient sith lord ajunta pall returned but based on qui-gon that life can only be achieved through compassion. Ajunta did feel bad for what he did but he was still a sith. The emperor's spirt is also still in exsitance after vader so all force users may have a spirt like that. Perhaps you neeed either a strong light or dark side tie.

Qui-Gon was very strong in the Living Force, aka, a very compassionate being. Perhaps he had begun his discovery of this before his duel with Darth Maul, and his learning continued after his death. He was able to keep his individuality when he died, but it took a while before he could actually communicate with the living. Also, I don't believe he ever figures out how to appear as a visible ghost. I could be wrong, though....

i heard yoda learns this trick on yavin and teaches it to obi wan i've been reading to many spoilers and im sure while darth Vader was comfortably in rule of the galaxy waiting for luke to grow up he had plenty of time to read some books he kept from the jedi archives and force powers weekly magazine i think you should keep your focus on the here and now where they belong, be mindful of the future but not at the expence of the moment and dont dwell on the pass.

well i first heard from one of the early spoilers last year that yoda reads it from a book he has in his jedi temple quarters but as time went on i heard others about quigon teaching him so id prefer to go with the quigon theory

Obi-Wan and Yoda had 20 years to work on the disappearing trick. Qui-Gon and Anakin didn't know how to do it when they died. I assume Qui-Gon figured it out after he died. Was he tied to Anakin and the whole Sith problem so he could work on the problem after death? There's a lot of missing backstory here. Anakin got drawn into it after he redeemed himself.
I assume that Qui-Gon had faded away by the time Luke came around. Yoda did say he would "forever sleep" just before he had his massive heart attack, and he knew what was coming. If Qui-Gon appeared with the other af the end of ROTJ, Luke would just be standing there saying, "Who's that guy?"
Seems fairly simple to me; the ones who disappear had a lot of lead time to work on it. The ones who don't, didin't.

but how come when vader dies he doesnt dissapear and yet he still is able to come back Actually if you read the books, Vader did disapear. That was just empty armor that Luke was burning at the end.

maybe quigon didn't know how to disappear at the time but after being dead was still practicing in the force learning to communicate to the living
