should i begin reading this series??? i havent read any of them yet. ive read most of the other novels including all the clone wars books. i own a couple of the NJO books (presents from friends) but from opinions that i hear they are pretty much hit or miss. im the type of person that would have to read everyone of the books just to get the entire story but if i hit one that i dont like it will make me dislike the entire series.

I found the series enjoyable. There's a lot of good authors writing in it. There's tons of action and some pretty epic things going on. It was a little different in a way - still Star Wars - but not the same feel as the films. I don't want to spoil anything for you but it might be a good choice to read. There are 19 books plus a couple of e-books so it is a commitment of sorts. Some books are better than others but in light of the entire series it works pretty good

I was curious about the NJO books but didn't have time or interest in going through them all, so I just read the last one, "The Unifying Force". I think the writing is good (at least for the last book), but the whole series annoyed me. It climaxes in a galaxy-wide, this-is-the-biggest-thing-ever threat. I like to think of the movies as being about overcoming the biggest threat to the galaxy in a millenium. Putting an even bigger Big-Bad in the books just cheapens them for me.

I've read all of the NJO & the only problem I had was waiting for each one to come out till I could continue onward. Since the universe is a big place out there, I figured having another new baddy wasn't too bad. The series did stretch a bit. It had it's highs & lows.

ive never really been in to the njo series tell ya the truth. I like the books and games that are based on the past and such. I did have one of the books might have been the first in the series...(had han solo, i think leia, and two other people on the front and it mentions that chewbacca has died and that the yuuzon vong<no idea how to spell it> has created something that disables a jedis connection to the force). I started reading but never really got into it. and to me there is no more starwars, once vader turns back to anakin and the emperor falls that is the end.
