Got it from the library yesterday. Am on page 85 and they still haven't really gotten in to the Jedi. A few short mentions of Anakin and an someone whose name we'll recognize from the EU, but no action yet for the Jedi. I expect it to be coming soon though.

That's a lot of pages when the book is supposed to be about Anakin....

So Far, I really like it a lot! Also bought the PB of Shatterpoint, but that's next.

It kind of shows why Mace is a Jedi Master (oh yeah...) Slightly off topic: Episode 12-13 of Clone Wars Cartoon: Another reason why Mace is a Jedi Master...

Finished it. Over all, I liked it, but it did not have the Star Wars feel to it. It was a great book to showcase military strategies and how an army manuevers, but it did not showcase the Jedi like I had hoped it would (since it is supposed to be Anakin's Jedi trial). Only the last 20-30 pages really had any SW feel to it, and I liked that part the best. Also, I did not think the book was written really well. The authors glossed over several points I think should have been brought out to the front more (such as the two Jedi's commonalities)
It did read quickly though

I liked the action in it rather alot. At least the military stuff made military sense, so often fiction doesn't, especially guilty is Star Trek, Orig. series. I liked the relationship between Ani & Halcyon, as well as the other characters.

It was pretty much an easy read... written by a couple of of military guys in a simplistic and concise style. But I can say it wasn't one of my favorites... there wasn't much of a personal side to it... just action, and strategy. Of course I read it quickly, so maybe I missed something.

So I read this a second time... and I have to say I really admire the way these guys can write about battles... they know what they're talking about... I wouldn't have a clue how to write about something like this. I still skimmed a few parts though... attention span issues.

I'll probably try to reread all the Clone wars novels before EpIII is out, but in order this time, I've been reading them in a rather hopscotch fashion, as I find them or think I'll like them.

I am in the middle of Jedi Trial now and it's pretty cool. My only issue with it is that it seems that it's less about Anakin and more about this cool battle. If a trial for Anakin is coming, they are certainly taking the roundabout way to get there...

That's just it. It's not much of a trial as we have always been kind of lead to believe. It's basically just Anakin with a different Master in a huge battle. Except he is in command, more or less. Not quite the Jedi Trials we have all be lead to think about. But I guess with the Clone Wars, things are done differently

right... I guess they have to make exceptions. But I didn't see it as a proper Jedi Trial either.
But I'm seeing that I not only need to read the novels, but I have to keep up with the comics as well, because many of the battles are referenced in the books, and vice versa.

Yeah, I think this has been mentioned in another thread somewhere around here... and it's a good question...something to think about. But what I say, is that if Anakin had been trained by Qui-Gon and didn't turn to the dark side, then we wouldn't have Vader... or SW as we know it! And that would be no fun!

I listened to this one as a condensed Audio book and I think I actually need to read it since the audio program left out the ending! Sheesh.
Anyway, about what if Qui-Gon had trained Anakin? I'm reading Labyrinth of Evil now but am only 90 pages into it. But already Obi-Wan is speculating about what would have been different if Qui-Gon HAD trained Anakin.
