Wow Leda, that looks to be extremely similar to the color of my own tunic set; naturally I can vouch for its color-changing properties. Mine takes on the tones of the lighting in which it is seen; in normal daylight or with regular electric lights the brown undertones are obvious, but in early/late light it assumes a gray color. But it's not a problem. In The Jedi Path, it says SPECIFICALLY that (and I quote!) a Jedi's tunics can be "tan or gray" - it doesn't even mention brown! I think some people just don't like gray because it means changing standards around and all that jazz. But I am now positive that it is a fine color for a Jedi indeed. Yours will be superb I'm sure!

The issue of gray is just that... gray! lol It can be close to white, or black or anything in between. BUT technically speaking, gray lacks hue, and taupe definitely has brown hue, even if it looks different under different lighting. The Jedi Path also pictures green Jedi tunics and one with swirls on it. The way we handle that is by using the terms "screen accurate" or "movie canon" vs. Expanded Universe, which includes the books. Problem with that gray reference is that there's no picture. Give it time. Thanks for the compliment on the undertunic! I do love that color. It goes nicely with the tunic that I just dyed dark brown. I'm making my new tunic a similar color, but a shade lighter. It will have dark brown faux suede tabards!

I have no issue with color within reason.I'd like to see some Corellian Jedi(green),or the color of the Jedi healers (blue) most of the time you're going to get called Obi-Wan,or Anakin anyway

Leda, I call that color taupe. I prefer it to brown since most shade of brown do not look that great on me. Look at Mace's tunic in TPM. It is much more gray than brown.
Interesting pattern for the tabbards, Kai. What kind of fabric is it? Does it wrinkle?

This is how I celebrated my 35th anniversary of the release of 'A New Hope'. I decided to try to take a photo to submit to the Rebel Legion 2013 calendar. I have a tripod and I took everything out of my Jedi costume bins to set it up and I fiddled with all kinds of settings on my digital camera that I've been meaning to try out for a long time. But in the end I found that there really is no replacement for professional lighting to maximize the dynamic range of the picture for the sharpest look. But it was fun trying.
The caption is: JEDI LAUNDRY: Someone left a blaster in the wash; how uncivilized.

Thanks all! I like the idea, but I really doubt the image quality is good enough for reproduction. But it was fun to do. And, yes, that's a lot of laundry. I now have a different Jedi costume for every day of the week, plus sundry accessories. A bit much I suppose, but they only take up three bins and a bit of hanging space and the a pile of boots in my costume closet.
