i ask this because the have been fighting the pop culture image of "thin is in" when wanting to persist in making my jedi costume. my body type is a fuller figure with broader shoulders. or in other words i'm a roise o' donnell with an NFL linebacker's shoulders and jennifer lopez's backside. i'm big but very stout.
i find that the jedi tunic and tarbards help hide some imperfections on nature's behalf. the angles of the tunic square off my shoudlers and benefit my small size. i stand at five foot and it is hard to find the right look in jedi colors to pull off the look of not being too husky/chubby or even broad shouldered.
the reason i decided to say this is because i find that many people not built like barbie or ken are drawn to making jedi costume because of cost or even look. i look good in tunics and the style of the costume is verying becoming. in truth, i wear it well.
so, has anybody else ever run into these problems where the bosy interferes with the costume plans? any remedies to solve the problem i run into?

A lot of us are not "Barbie Dolls" and I agree a tunic that fits well can be very flattering, although, I also find that when the girls try to wear the styles that are sort of straight blocky kimono jacket styles they run into problems, the styles with a waist are much more flattering on us, and the more curvy the shape the more true it is. My 1st tunic was so not flattering that I only wore it the 1st time and then made another with a whole other style to it. The waist seam gets covered by the tabbard & obi so it doesn't show at all, and there is photo evidence that several Jedi including Mace have wiast seams in Ep II. As long as it looks like cannon Jedi, it works. I have plans to do a Jedi in a least one much more feminine style, sort of Bariss/ Luminara in more tradional Jedi colours as my Jedi persona is not a healer. Since I am going to wear Jedi, I let my persona account for the body type, and well I never was drawn to wearing the white armour I've always just been a Jedi at heart, though, once I did an Ewok, I can't keep it on for more than a few minutes at a time, and very long time ago, did a Boba Fett style armour for myself, it was ok, but not made out of the plastic stuff, was al done in celastic. Not the most flattering look on me, but it was fun at the time.

i'm not sure this may fit into this category, but here goes.
last week i wrote to simplicity pattern company, to find out if they make sizes XXL and XXXL patterns for the popular costumes we the jedi assembly have come fond of making our tunics from, unfortunately, they do not, XL is as big as they make for the tunic costume patterns, be them 5480 or 9311, they did tell me they do make a pattern for a XXXL size robe and pant pattern, but they gave no pattern number for it. anyways thought i would find out something for the big man or woman jedi, since i'm a big man i need big clothes,or patterns, lol. hope this helps out some.

I did a little searching on-line and the few patterns that I found that were for multi x sizes were all for women, I guess they think big men don't sew or nobody sews for them, sort of strange. I will tell you that most Simplicity patterms run a good deal larger than the measurements they claim they are when finished, and this can be pushed by taking a smaller amount of seam allowance, as in the seam allowance is 3/4 an inch, use a 3/8 instead, it will add some, depending on the number of seams. Als-da, I did order a few of the TJA t-shirts in 3x if your interested in getting one PM me, you dropped out of sight just about the time we placed the order.
