My padawan has an el-cheapo Rubies Anakin costume that we picked up real cheap for him just to play around in. He wants tro wear it for Halloween, but the pants are 'way too big. Normally I would just hem them, but these have the boot-like legging attached that have the elastic that would slip under a shoe and it would look like he's wearinga boot. Any suggestions on how to make them smaller? Should I cut off the boot and go from there, or go from the waist and cut there and put in new elastic? Or something totally else? I thought about just cinching them up with flat belt to wear under the tunic but am not sure if they would stay up (he's a 'way skinny thing.) Any ideas? Thanks

Are they long in the leg, or the crotch or both. Don't cut anything yet, I'll get back to you after I get your answers. Either 2morrow or more likely Sunday. Nova It'll be easy either way they fit.

Mainly in the crotch, but the legs are a little long too but not as bad as the crotch

Ok, that really pretty easy, figure out how many inches to long in the crotch they are, then make a fold just under the waist elastic that is 1/2 the length on each side of the fold (ex:if two inches to long make a fold 1 inch in depth) all the way around the waist, the stich the fold, don't use really small stich length or when it comes time to let it oput you'll go nuts! The same trick works on the legs, just make the tuck where the boots and leg join just below the knee, then it will be hidden by the boot seam. As he gets taller you can let the tucks out again and he'll be able to wear it for a bit longer.
