[shadow=red,left,300]Oh I'll be getting a saber. But it may just be a cheapy from wal mart until I can get the metal to make mine. The blade I don't have a clue what to do.[/shadow]

My current upcoming project is a bounty hunter-like costume, but hanging off the belt will be my lightsaber. The belt'll probably be loose, and I need to find blaster holsters that strap around the thigh (like Han's or Jango's). Stuff like that is hard to find around here...
Still haven't started my saber, though...really should get to it.. After homework, of course (when I do that..)...

Oh, I already know about the sabers on Big Yellow Box...that's where I got the stuff for doing an Obi-Wan Kenobi (ep 1) style saber and took a couple hints that I could use on my own saber from other designs and parts used. I've been checking out the hardware stores (mainly Home Depot and Lowe's) for possible parts I could use and every once in a while I check out prices. I've picked up a couple of random pieces I can use, right now I have some flat o-rings I can use on the paper mache model I'm gonna do first of my saber. For the blade I've been thinking about getting one of those reeeeally cheapo sabers that only lock in (don't even light up...the $5 ones..) and taking it apart to use the blade and the locking mechanism, but I dunno yet.

bigyellowbox.tripod.com/ The only thing is that they always seem to be over their bandwidth limit so the site is down alot (like now), but you hafta keep trying. A couple of the lightsaber designs are cool and the idea for the double-blade is somethign I hadn't thought of.

[shadow=red,left,300]Double blade isn't quite my style. I'm thinking I may make a blade of white plastic and paint it the correct color. (Mostly cause noone offers my color as it hasn't been seen) But if I need to figure out how to make it first. I'll check that site as soon as I can.[/shadow]

[shadow=red,left,300]What I'm gonna do for my saber is take a pipe of some sort and wrap 18 or 20 gauge steel around it after I've dished out some minor designs into it. There really won't be any sign of a switch cause I use a saber with a pressure plate to ignite it. [/shadow]

Sounds cool Jen, Mine has a touch switch. Only problem is, if I brush the saber hilt with my hand on accident, the thing turns on.

That's cool. On my saber, ideally it only has one button- the blade length controlling button. It's turned on only by using the Force to "flip" an internal switch to ignite it. Of course...that's the RPG version. The *real* version shall have to be a tad diff...and that's only if I decide to have it light up.
Right now, I took the blade out of my Qui-Gon light-up saber (non-electronic but more than $4) and am gonna use that as a stand-in blade for my saber. (My saber is supposed to be purple, but there's no way I'm taking the blade out of my brand-new Mace Windu light-up saber.. ) I took it from the Qui-Gon one because that one doesn't work at all...something must be disconnected or something, I dunno. And I got it discounted cuz I got it like a year and a half after Ep 1 came out at Walgreens before Halloween... Hehe. ;D

[shadow=red,left,300]My saber has a force pressure plate for the rpg. My actual one that I'm building may have a single switch.[/shadow]
