I mentioned in the robe section about making a "party tunic". I got the idea from seeing those Disney on Ice shows, etc.
I'm close to having the Jedi party tunic mostly done. I know it will not be canon but I figure for the holidays it will be kind of neat to wear it. I'm hoping to have it ready for DC. This one is going to be chocolate. I still got 1 tabbord to make & sew the sleeves on.
I told my family I think I'm going to be on the look out for a cream or tan glittery fabric next. Not easy to find fancy & not overly gaudy materials but I know there is much out there now that holiday season is coming. Or maybe some kind of shimmery material that is cream, tan or beige.
Anybody got an idea of a fabric that might be good?

Maybe a silk Dupioni, very tasteful and comes in many shades.

You will want to avoid anything glittery.Camera flash will bounce off glittery fabric like mad, and it's hard to look at. Plus not very washable, and HOT. IE, it won't breath. <gasp>
Silk duponi and raw silk(silk Noil). They'er both sturdy, simple elegant and washing machine friendly. Dharma trading company's is at any rate. They sell both by cut yards(Moast exspensive option), ten yards at a time and entire bolts, (your cheapest and best deal), their 'by the bolt' option.. If you get a medium to heavy weight/mummy it'll drape well.
If you make dress tunics from ra wsilk, you cna line it with china silk, or silk duponi.

Thanks. The one I've got does sparkle a bit but with my robe on it will cut the sparkle down a lot. I'm not exactly concerned about camera flash either, this is more for the fun of having something Jedi for the Holidays or "after hours" at a con, ::)if I'm in the mood to wear it. I finally got this tunic done. It'll be interesting to see how it feels at DC for the 1st time. It'll give my other tunics a bit of rest period.

Had to post my find! I was just a JoAnn Fabrics and found a spice/burnt sienna color duponi silk marked $5/yd. No kidding, but it gets better. All their specially marked down fabrics were also on 50% off. So, $2.50/yd! The cutting clerk wasn't sure, but guessed the color was discontinued, as their other duponis were still marked 14.99/yd. Certainly worth checking on if you are near a JoAnn's, even if the 50% deal is not available! Keep in mind it is 44" wide, so buy enough if you find it. (Sorry, Siri, but Apple Valley had just enough on the bolt for me, but not enough for two. Maybe in the Cities?)

Wow! What a deal. I think about it every time it's on sale, but 40% off $15/yd is still a lot. I also look through the sale racks every time, as I've found really good fabric there before. Wish I'd thought to buy some bown when I bought 15 yards of dark green 60" wide dupioni in the LA Garment district (for my Professor McGonagall Yule Ball robe). It was $7/yd, I think.

WOW! I got a kind of velvet type fabric for my dress robe for $3.99, which was on sale. 50 inches I think. I also was able to get a very lovely, not sure what it is, cream satiny fabric with a cream floral print on it to make just one more dress tunic. This one will hopefully be ready for next year. I'll have 1 light & dark for holiday time.
I saw the duponi silk at Joannes, no deal yet, 12 or 14 per yard still.
Now I'm wondering how would one keep the robe from slipping off of the tunic? Well that is one for future thinking.
