theres a lot i dont like aout the tunic, my outer robe i love to death but my tunic just isnt working at all, sleeves are too long, overall its too short, i dont think the fabric is natural because it doesnt breathe even a little bit, it has no texture to it, it was quickly made and the hems are very sloppy. gah the more i think about it the more i dont like it, how much fabric does it take to make most tunics and tabbards? the fabric i used before was part of a huge bolt my mom had in the basement but since i have to buy this fabric i would like to try to get only what i need

Aaah, but you can use this first tunic, tabards and obi as the basis of the new, improved ones. You can use it to make a pattern, with all the problems corrected. I just tape newspaper sheets together to have paper pieces that are big enough and use a wide felt pen to mark what they are. You can lay them out (making sure you get two of everything you need like tabards and sleeves) and see how much fabric you might need, depending on how wide it might be -- 45" and 60" are the most common widths to plan for.

I don't like my whole costume in fact, but have learnt to live with it since my g/f invested a LOT of time and effort embroidering it...
The tailor I hired did a very bad job despite me printing out pages after pages of instructions and reference photos for her and went through everything over and over again many many times during countless visits the her shop while she was making the costume. I think she's so used to making made-for-hire costumes that she couldn't break out of the habit of doing things 'just good enough'...I've had to alter my outer tunic 4 times, my robe 2 times and my pants once...

I cant speak on behalf of the Council but I'd wager that it would be hard pressed to be accepted. Now in MY OPINION I think that it is a totally cool idea. I actually think that little pic is totally awesome! Are you planning to do your costume that way and did you draw that? Enquiring minds (namily my mind) want to know!

i didnt draw that, its a pic i found somewhere online and im using it in an IB art project (that scan is a page of my research book) for right now i dont have much of a problem with the councils opinions on it because im still only 16 and i cant be a full member anyway. the more i look at that pic the more i like the costume style and i think it would be easier to wear/make and be more confortable then a million layers of tunics

It looks nice. It looks Jedi. If you use Jedi colors defiantly so.

tigus: I kinda like the way there is an undertabbard below the obi on that drawing. I made my tabbards to finish with an angle and its a little like that, but this might be something I will be wanting to try too.
On another hand, I would change the armwraps by some bracers. I believe it would look cooler.
- just suggesting.

I think the arms wraps look pretty cool. Maybe you should do something like a sleeveless tunic? Wouldnt be canon, but would be pretty darn cool... By the way, your room looks almost as messy as mine

my room is a huge mess, i dont think i want bracers because i wanted something a little more original and different, sleeveless sounds cool but i think what im going to do is make them big sleeves then pull them in arm tight for a few inches where they would be under the hand wraps so they would cut off about 3 inches below my elbow, i dont think im going to make an obi, tabbards have always been a slight problem because im kind of busty and they always like to try to slide around, but i think if i dont have the whole wrap mess of the reg tunic it will be easy to put buttons on the tunic and undersides of the tabbards to keep them where i want them

I think you should keep the obi and the wrap style of tunic, it would be very difficult to make the tunic look Jedi if it was just a shirt - although that drawn design looks just fine, it doesnt account for things such as stitching and fabric texture. Plus, it will actually be alot harder to make than a standard tunic if you cant find a simple shirt to use - which wouldnt flare and sit properly anyway.
I love the idea of the handwraps though, and think they will look great in combination with a traditional Jedi outfit. And there are lots of shortcuts to make it less of a "mess"... both my tunics slip on over my head as one piece and are simply tightened to the right fit.
