I was thinking of doing a vest similar to Anakin's AOTC vest. I'm not sure of the pattern for it. No a light shoe weight leather is what I was thinking of for the fabric for that. But as for the tunic I know off white raw silk would work well but as for the cut I'm not sure. Does anyone think a T-tunic style with a slight puff to the sleeve would work? Or a straight sleeve? Any help would be nice. And as for the color of the vest I'm not sure. Is that basically just personal choice?

The vest on Anakin's AOTC, is the thing we call tabards, and the tunic is closest to a karate gie, or a short kimono jacket. check the threads for patten #'s. Both are pretty simple garments to make.

I know that the vest that Anakin wore was more of tabard. (I'm a medieval recreationist as well.) But what I want to try is it a solid piece in the back with it open like a vest on the front. As for the tunic while it does resemble a kimono but I've never been fond of the kimono. As for a karate gi...well that isn't quite what I was thinking. While I like his outfit some modifications are necessary.

Yeah, gi & kimono not great on me either, my long one has a waist seam and the skirt is pleated at certain points, because it looks better on a curvy shape. What were you, a scadian?

AN afterthought, I was looking at a costume pc today that had a yoke w/ a solid back and was open sided with the front being attached at the yoke and hanging loose and open in the front, might make an interesting tabard variation, it was gathered onto the yoke so it would have some flare when belted.

Correction Nova. I AM a scadian. And proud of it. In fact my name in the sca is Snaebjornr. In fact I think the best way to describe what I want to make for a vest is actually closer to a dublet with an open front. If you want check for me to be on sometime and send me a line.

Loose term for a member of the SCA. If you want to know about the SCA ask a member or just type SCA into google search engine - you'll get alot of hits.

Xana-if you really want to know what a scadian is ask either Cris Kaytarn or myself some night. Believe me. We can do our best to explain it.

My friend Isabella is currently Queen of the East Kingdom, I'm a member of MSR for about the last 18 years, but I get to an occasional SCA event.

Dublet w/ open front should work, no hard fast rules for Jedi garb. Sounds as if your persona is from some horde or other. I'd be Lady Gwynneth of Ille De Graye, a Welsh Lady in a middle eastern household. I was rescued from an evil chritian knight by a saracen knight who is my protector until he can honourably marry me off. Do you see his problem. I have no wish to be married off. I am his honoured guest not a captive, treated as family, but w/ the freedom to come and go.

Well met Lady Gwynneth. I am Snaebjornr Haakonsson called the Swift. Son of Viscount Master Sir Haakon Oaktall. I hail from late tenth century/early eleventh century Iceland. I travel the silk roads as a merchant guard with Dame Morgan Silverlocke and her daughter and my wife Lady LeofWynn Ravenlocke. Mayhap we could meet some day. And I would like to talk to you of the MSR. I have heard of them but not much is known by me.

The MSR is a split off group I believe. Ask Nove she'll know better than I will.
