Good luck with the leave, Schph! I hope it does some good and you can find a new job with less stress. Fixing things around the house alone should be satisfying.
I had to catch a lizard in my kitchen this morning while I was making breakfast and while I was putting it outside the door closed and locked behind me, and I had to kick it in because the stove was on (the door was fine, but the frame splintered on the first kick) and I was able to nail it back together so the deadbolt lock works, but my landlord just said take care of it with Terry (the guy he has working for him who fixes things) because he's having it really rough because his house burned down last weekend and his wife is divorcing him, so my little mishaps are pretty small compared to the buckets of bad raining down on him, plus I have a new washer and dryer being delivered on Monday since my dryer died last weekend and the last time something went bad on that thing I swore I'd buy new for both of them because my main problem with that dryer can't be fixed because they don't make a certain part anymore (it only runs on high) and now it's dead anyway and the washer was having its own little quirks (just a matter of time before it went), but my job has been going well (got a good review last week) though I really need to get Randy to approve my magnetic field report as a technical document and I'm stuck again waithing for more hydrodynamic documents from England becuase the one I got last week has references that I need, and it's getting to be air conditioning season way WAY too early this year and hurrican season starts in six weeks.
Otherwise things are going fine with me.
Em, I look forward to seeing your house one of these days! It sounds wonderful. I don't know when I'll be in Pensacola next.

Egad Ani.... Sounds like you had a really BAD day..... Gave the door a force enhanced Jedi kick....too cool...except for the part of having to get it fixed. I have locked myself out a couple of times and got in through one of my windows that doesn't lock very good.... so...the bottom line is....if we "amateurs" can break in......so can a seasoned burgler...something to think about...

Well, it wasn't such a bad day because after I got the door frame nailed back together nothing else happened. My landlord is having a bad LIFE right now and I hope things get better for him. I still haven't gotten a return call from the guy who's supposed to fix things like that, so I won't laugh off the door thing until that's taken care of. Hopefully, the washer and dryer thing will get taken care of tomorrow.
Note: a good lock is not good enough. You need a good door and a good doorframe to go with it.

Today is the first day of being off.....and I know what I will have to do today...
We had a serious amount of rain yesterday and all night....my garage is flooded.....my garden is flooded....the mulch is everywhere....I can even see that now before the sun is up....
And while in the basement (which also has some water)... I notice some drips from the ceiling....coming from the toilet....and the wood is all rotted in that area....must have been going on for a while....sigh....not off to a good start....

I feel very guilty about our good weather here and I am keeping an eye on the weather channel for your weather. I want you to relax a little and have some fun... I want you healthy for Dragon Con......

I hope the first two days were productive, Schph! And I hope your resume gets noticed; alas I've always heard that job searches can take a few months, but I hope yours is short. Got my back door fixed....the guy who fixed it said that he'd probably fixed a hundred broken in doors in the past 4 years, but he noted that most people didn't have a 'good' reason like I had (to turn off the stove). Usually it's someone drunk or mad at their girlfriiend or something like that. I suppose I could say something about sterotypes about southern, redneck towns about now....

Good to know Ani about the "months"..... I do start each day with some attempt at job hunting and am trying to keep a positive mental attitude.
So far my days have been very productive for everything but the new job...lol...and are flying by..
I have done a lot of work in my garden, began purging, and have worked at my prairie restoration site both Tuesday and Wednesday....

E-Gad ani, just reread the thread and I missed the whole door thing....have things gotten fixed? My new door is in and I love it. The new roof is on and it looks great and now I can breathe easier as Hurricane season nears...... My grass is growing back in on its own in the back yard so now I don't have to lay sod. My daughter cleaned out the Jaccizzi and it will be up and running soon.... My entertainment center came and I can't wait to get it situated and have all my collectibles displayed.... My little house is coming together nicely....Can't wait to finish painting..... Are we all ready for DC? ?? ;D ....and......I have lost 22 pounds as of today!!!!!! I am so excited. My daughter gave me all of her "big clothes" size 14-16...She is now in a 10....so I got a new wordrobe!...... Unfortunately, I don't think I'll have time to make a new Jedi outfit for DC, but at least the one I have will fit alot better......

E-Gad ani, just reread the thread and I missed the whole door thing....have things gotten fixed? Oh, yes, the door got fixed. It turned out to be a simple job.
But my landlord's house burned down, he's going through an ugly divorce, moved to Alabama and is trying to sell the apartments. Property is NOT selling well around here, so it could be a long time before anything happens, but I still cringe at the prospect of having to move.
Yes, Dragon*Con would be nice, but I MUST get sewing.

The leave of absence is almost over....I go back to work full time on Monday...
I got tons done.....worked on my deck and fence, planted and worked in my garden (which is HUGE), tore apart and painted my kitchen, painted my living room, worked LOTS on my prairie restoration project, worked on my Stormtrooper armor, sewed a few new Jedi pieces...sent one off to Nova that I didn't feel like finishing, sewed some pillows for my new decor, did a few costume events, and looked for a job.
Alas...no new job...I will have to be grateful for the one I have.
C4....No....I don't plan on going....I could change my mind..but it is doubtful.
That makes me extra glad that I am going to Dragon Con this year....I get a chance to see you guys from TJA....I am excited about that....and then there is our COSI thing in Columbus in July.
I am lucky that I get to do a great deal of costume events here locally....I have a whole bunch coming up again....and I got contacted by Brookfield Zoo about having Star Wars costumers there for one of their big summer events....This is a big deal...... I hope that we can pull it off...
