Ok i think Chric Paolini who wrote Eragon is a copier of george lucas heres why and if you havent read the book eragon you should just to see why.im a lil rusty on it cause i havent read it in a while but ya its the main idea first of there are ancient dragon riders who all got killed by a dragon rider who went evil after his beloved dragon died one dragon rider survived brom an old man then Eragon a young farmer who lives with his uncle and nos nothing of his father finds a dragon egg. and brom teaches him in the ways of a dragon rider they go on a quest to find the things that kills eragons uncle and brom teaches eragon on this quest And they are also going to the varden(a rebel band who fights the emprire which is run by the evil dragon rider) Brom gives Eragon a sword who he took from a evil dragon rider named Morzan when Brom killed morzan. brom dies... eragon has dreams of a buetiful woman held in a prison he finds a rogue dude who is the son of morzan and he helps eragon find the girl and go to the varden. He helps in a huge battle and he defeats a mage thing and then a huge crystal blows up(Death star style) see some similarities but it was a good book so i say you guys should read it if you like star wars

Well I have read the book(many many times) ;D ;D it's my favorite book. And Paolini is a comic fan, he goes to comic cons and the such, so I could guess many of the SCFI comics and show could inspire a young author like Paolini. Truthfully I kinda think what you said about the similarities are cool because they combine my three favorite things in this world, Star Wars ;D, Medieval Stuff ;D, and Dragons ;D ;D. (can't wait till this August when the second book of the trilogy comes out ;D) Also if anyone is a Dragon and or Medieval fan you should read this book!
you can see a little of my obsession with Eragon in my signature and the words under my Avatar.

Gee, dragon riders--can we say Pern and Anne McCaffrey--which was before Lucas, of course in some of the series. As for writitng, there is nothing original it's how the writer presents it to make it different enough. JMD

McCaffrey is my favorite author (except for Paolini) but nothing is original anymore, most new authors got there ideas from reading books and watching movies and TV shows that interested them.

first of there are ancient dragon riders who all got killed by a dragon rider who went evil after his beloved dragon died
He went insane, not evil.
one dragon rider survived brom an old man
That is not certain. If you think Brom is similar to Obi-Wan, you are mistaken. Brom is like 125+ years old; Obi-Wan was sixty something.
then Eragon a young farmer who lives with his uncle and nos nothing of his father finds a dragon egg. and brom teaches him in the ways of a dragon rider
Brom teaches him in the way of Sword skills and magic, not the way of a Dragon Rider.
they go on a quest to find the things that kills eragons uncle and brom teaches eragon on this quest
Would you not want revenge on people who killed your father or your father-figure in this case? It's common sense, not plagerism.
And they are also going to the varden(a rebel band who fights the emprire which is run by the evil dragon rider)
They do not mean to go to the Varden, they mean to hunt down the Raz'ac, who killed Eragon's father figure. Their imprisonment at Gil'ead makes them save a woman Eragon has dreamed about, who is an elf. She need the medical attention of the Varden, therefore, they travel to the Varden.
Brom gives Eragon a sword who he took from a evil dragon rider named Morzan when Brom killed morzan.
He gives it to him because he has no means of weaponry, and the sword inspires legend.
brom dies...
Wow, pigs oink.
eragon has dreams of a buetiful woman held in a prison
He is bonded to Arya, who was the carrier of Saphiras egg until she desperatley transported it to the Spine, where Eragon discovered it.
he finds a rogue dude who is the son of morzan and he helps eragon find the girl and go to the varden.
Ha, perhaps you did not read the end of the story. Murtagh despises the Varden, and does not want to go. They are chased by a massive army into the valley where the Varden reside, and Murtagh is forced to choose between life and death.
He helps in a huge battle and he defeats a mage thing and then a huge crystal blows up(Death star style)
No, not at all Death Star style. Arya and Saphira destroy the Sapphire in an attempt to distract the Shade from killing Eragon.
I say you are just trying to be funny, and you failed dismally. Everything in the story happens for a reason, and no matter where or who you are in the world, you will always have some kind of comparison to something. It's an author's dream to have a piece of literature so original that it cannot be compared to anything.
There is so much literature in the world that a single book could be compared to thousands. Authors may have not read certain books, or even heard of them, but goons like you will point out random similarities into something they have never seen or heard of.

Both SW and Eragon are examples of tyhe classic Myth. As are many other books. Harry Potter can even be an example of the myth and can be compared to SW as well.

Martorius, I have only one word to describe what you said, WOW. that was good Brom does teach Eragon the ways of a Dragon rider and basically what to do, Eragon didn't find out himself. But if you think about it the rule of Brom is more closely related to Yoda who died, and taught Luke the ways of the Jedi. And Jedimom that's definitely true, And alot of the newer books can be compared to the older books pretty accurately but it depends on the genre and the times the author grew up. If he grew up in a time that star wars was big(like the time the first movie came out) then it's possible that his book to be related to it in way that starwars inspired him.

I must be some kind of moronic idiot, I have never heard of this at all. Sounds interesting - I'll put it on my list of books to read (which is longer than the list of movies I need to see.).

the book will be a year old in august and the author started the book when he was 15 and he was 19 when he finished it, and he just turned 20 not too long ago. but I highly recommend the book, especially if you like magic, strange creatures, weird languages, fighting, swords, and [glow=red,10,300]Dragons[/glow]
