Not really sure where to actually put something like this, so i figured this might be the best fit. About 7 months ago now, i started what would become a pretty strong little LED saber club. We have about two dozen members now, and meet up every two weeks in the winter, more often in the summer. We live on Hoth (Winnipeg) so winter makes it a bit tough to meet up more. Ill try to keep posting in here and updating on what the club has been up to. Rather than stage combat, we focus primarily on adaptation of actual martial arts to LED saber combat. (Though we have over the last few months gotten into actual choreography for some things) www.facebook.com/rivercityjediwww.rivercityjedi.webs.comwww.youtube.com/user/durzoblint09/videos?flow=grid&view=0Recently we just started using a point system for scoring in sparring matches, developed by Darth Nonymous and Master VorNac at the Terra Prime Lightsaber academy, ran it through its first test paces on this past saturday night. We try to date all the videos we take so we can go back and watch them, seeing the progression of it as we improve over time. Thanks for checking us out, and may the force be with you.

That's fantastic! I used to spar with NY Jedi but it cost too much for me to go into NYC all the time.

Did you want me to get ahold of one of the TPLA masters? there are actually 2 of them in NJ that really do want to get a club going since they cant make it into NYC all the time either, one has about 15 yrs experience, the other has about 10, and coaches fencing at lafayette college

Very cool, a local Jedi saber club. There's been a few out here, I got an offer to come teach one once but just couldn't commit the time between the normal job and filmwork. It's always intresting to see how people use the saber both in terms of real martial arts and the entertainment aspect. While I've always been a believer that the lightsaber is an entertainment tool, it does look more professional when the performer uses it with real stances as opposed to posed ones.

I just joined the saberwars forums, so we'll see how that goes.
