I am Cor-Al Gelkar from Corulag. I was born before the Imperial intervention on my planet. My padawan (my son in real life) is Karm Vin. I was taken from my parents shortly after birth, identified by a high midi-chlorian count. I studied my early classes in the Temple under Plo Koon. I lost my left eye during a lightsaber training battle with the Jedi who would later be my Master, Wane Geiger. The battle went a little too far, and I could actually feel the touch of the Dark Side as I struggled. I lunged out, feeling the darkness of anger toward the one who would dare try to defeat me. I learned a hard lesson, and not just the loss of an eye, but almost the loss of my entire being. After the humility came, I also found it hard to adjust to the prosthetic at first. It was especially hard to adjust my depth perception, but I found that my lightsaber training, piloting and other tasks that required close work became a new experience as I had to connect deeper in the Force to complete them.
At the time Anakin Skywalker fell to the Dark Side and started the extermination of the Jedi, I was in the caves of Ilum with my Padawan at that time, Shan D'lar, creating her lightsaber. Feeling the deaths of so many through the Force, we were weakened and stunned. Unable to gather the Force around us enough to fight, we sought refuge in the caves. Shan D'lar eventually succumbed to the visions in the cave; the shadows and visions of all she had known being destroyed enveloped her. I stayed in the caves and studied and learned from the drawings on the walls of Jedi past. I finally emerged from the caves to find all I had known destroyed. The great Temple was gone. My colleagues gone. I wander the galaxy with my Padawan and my husband, Lanhi Tam, King of Dupida and Force-sensitive Jedi-in-Training. We try to influence and help those we can, while I search for other lost Jedi and try to hold onto the traditions I hold sacred while in the midst of turmoil and aggression.
