To Spread the word of TJA?
We have been trying to get a few more fan tables at cons, but we need people to staff them
We need people to tell other costumers about our group.
We need people to pass out propaganda at events.
We need people to attend events
What else can we do to spread the word of TJA?
I personally feel sad when I go to events and see tables for other clubs but not ours
I personally feel sad when there is talk of events that have happened but TJA is not mentioned as being party of it
I have manned tables by myself. But myself and the Council cannot do it alone.
We need you to spread the word.
There are videos on YouTube that can be used to spread the word. Even if you just post them on Facebook, they will be seen and perhaps shared again
I personally am sad when I see people joining other groups but our membership stays stagnant.
What can we do? Any ideas?

I'm willing to be the contact for a TJA fan table at I-Con in March/April and ConnectiCon in July. Every time Leda, Xana, and I went to I-Con the ConnectiCon head people asked us (TJA) to attend their con. I-Con is a big local con. They'll be exposure for us. The RL and 501st *always* have a fan table there. ConnectiCon in the Hartford Convention Center is a big regional con. Getting a table there would be great exposure. ConnectiCon has come a long way from the 1st one that Leda and I attended. The Mayor of Hartford and the Governor of Connecticut have praised this con. ConnectiCon is only 90 minutes away from me in Brewster/Carmel/Patterson, NY. There are charity walks by me. The 501st did a Relay for Life at Mahopac High School this past June. My mom said that they made a local newspaper. I have seen 2 501st TKs wearing their 501st t-shirts in the food store I go to. I donate $1 or $2 dollars and put our website on the whatever thing. We cold see if local comic book shops have fan tables for local groups on Free Comic Book Day the 1st Saturday of May. There are a number of name comic book/collectables stores by me. One of them is Toy Wiz in Nanuet, NY. Toy Wiz has GW Warhammer events and WotC MTG tournaments for regional ranking. They are located in an area where people from NJ and NYC can go to. We could adopt a roadway. A local group gets a road sign with their name on it and every so often the group cleans the trash off the side of the adopted road. My Starfleet ST chapter did this in Albany, NY. I think they got into a local newspaper for one of the clean-ups. But, I think this has a fee that the local group has to pay. The Nintendo Center in NYC has the Pikachu VW (which you can't miss!). Why don't we ask Road Squadron if they could give some suggestions on making a TJA vehicle? I'll volunteer my Honda Civvic to be Jedi-itized! Another suggestion is WEAR YOUR TJA TEES! I wear my TJA tee and people notice, and ask me "What's The Jedi Assembly?". I'm seeking a price quote from Land's End Business to make polo shirts for our group. I'll be going to 2 local silkscreeners to see about price quotes for clothing with our logo on the 10th Anniversary patch. At C6 I saw the clothing that the RL Bases and 501st Garrisons were wearing, and they all stuck out in the crowds of SW fans at a SW convention. Merchandise. Car decals are in the works. Anything else that we might be able to get approval for from Lucas Film to paste our logo on?

Check out vista print, it is like 20 a polo. Any way at these cons we might be able to split the cost and co man a booth?

Vista Print has a great deal! The polos come in black, white, and navy blue. The price is right, too. The tees come in long and short sleeves and come in black and white. The fan tables: The I-Con people still haven't made an announcement. My friend Jackie said that it'll be at 2 other colleges, one of them C.W. Post, LI Campus. ConnectiCon has to be contacted, which I still need to do and pass the information along to the Jedi Council. ConnectiCon is July 12-14, 2013.

New year, new chances to spread the word about TJA. Charity walks will be held soon when the warmer weather returns. In June The Relay for Life is held at Mahopac High School in Mahopac, NY. the 501st made an appearance there last year. Maybe it's close enough that some TJA members would be willing to join me? There might be comeraderie with other Star Wars fans at the Chilli's down the road....

Could TJA foster connections with other costuming groups? both SW and Non-SW based? arrange to share tables at cons where feasible (reduce costs and staffing needs perhaps) share trooping events?
you-tube videos of TJA in action would be good.....visiting hospitals, parades, events. perhaps focusing on teaching the aspects of costume/props design and construction....revamp the how2 sections to add videos?
merchandising.....an issue with licensing might be worked out?

Well here in winnipeg there is a 25 strong contingent of Mando mercs, the next couple of times they are trooping for whatever reason they will be getting me to go with them as well, no 501st or RL members here either.
The mandos seem to get pretty decent interest, and i saw others dressed as jedi at C4 comic con (really really good ki adi mundi, and aayla secura actually) Is there any business cards or pamphlets i can get my hands on to hand out at these events if people ask about the group? Or anything specific i can give to other jedi i see walking about?

The Brewster Community Food Pantry is seeking donations in the form of food, personal hygene products, and monetary donations. This is one of the charities that the local Hannaford supermarket in Carmel, NY gives donated dinners to. TJA has made a donation through Hannaford by purchasing 2 of the boxes for a holiday meal for an underpriviledged family in the area this past holiday season. St.Andrews Episcopal Church Website listing requested items: www.standrewsbrewster.org/Outreach.phpThe food pantry website: southeast.patch.com/listings/the-brewster-community-food-pantryPerhaps local TJA Jedi can make a physical donation to the food pantry and out of area Jedi can make a monetary donation?

If anyone is interested in making a monetary donation to the Brewster Community Food Pantry, a small $5.00 donation would suffice. I looked at the prices of Hannaford brand food items on the food pantry's list and they are cheap $1.xx items (like cans of tuna or soup, or a box of pasta).
