The storm was the weirdest thing. I was coming out of the pharmacy and the back part of the lot was wet and I got to the van and saw it coming in...in sheets. I could countdown to the instant we got blown around and wet. Instantaneously everything changed. A trashcan hit my van and branches were going down all over. So we pulled into Kroger's and ran in to get out of the storm. They put us in the backroom because electric went out as soon as the storm hit. Worst part was, when they let us go I realized I didn't have enough gas to get home! I had to wait around til the electric came on - luckily a cop saw us (and a few others) parked by the pumps after a while and told us there was one station in town that was open and luckily I had enough gas to get there! By the time I got back home, the neighborhood was cleaning up and we got the stuff out of our back yard. Lots of debris all over. We still have some small branches to clean up and have a good size pile in front of the house. Local newspaper photos - www.dailystandard.com/albums/album_view.php?album_id=1803Satellite of power outage - cimss.ssec.wisc.edu/~jordang/VIIRS_DNB__REF_comp.gifwe are west central Ohio - near the indiana border about half way up (near the bottom of the dark area during the blackout) At one point they said that 2/3 of the state had lost power at one point or another. One of my friends won't get there's on til Monday and my nephew says his might be out til July 7th!

We are having a heat wave here and it may spur up some more severe storms here just like you had Carol. Chicago, Rockford, Dekalb and Peoria Illinois all got hit bad Friday and Saturday. We may get hit again due tot he high heat and humidity. I feel like I'm living in an oven right now. Dianakin

Wow that reminds me of a storm that happened once when I was at the beach here in NJ several years back. It was late afternoon and a bit windy and then this massive wind and driving rain and sand came out of nowhere! I had to just let go of the kite I was flying and we barley made it off the beach.
Those pics are really something... it almost looks like a tornado hit.

This hot weather and storms are nuts! WA is the only state that hasn't had the hottest year on record.

Tomorrow it's supposed to be a hundred degrees here in NJ. Good day for a pool party... if only I had a pool lol! The worst is when its so hot and humid and you can smell the water from neighbors' pools and hear the splashing but you can't go in!

Oh well... looks like Im driving all the way down to C6. The auto train went up alot in price. No longer makes sense other than saving wear and tear on the car and myself! Might as well sink that money into the car and fix the muffler, get a spare tire, oil change and charge the AC!

Ouch, I hate when that happens. But driving is nice if you schedule enough time. I did that 2 years ago. I thought I'd have a back-up driver, but Mark was having problems and I ended up driving almost the whole trip.
I wish I would have scheduled an extra day. There were a couple of things I would have liked to stop and seen along the way. Especially Andersonville.

Yeah I was thinking of stopping to visit a friend from high school who lives in the DC area. Be nice to break up the trip a little.

We just need some rain here...my poor pepper plants and giant pumpkins have succumed to the heat despite my trying to keep them watered and cool.....We were so excited aboutthe pumpkins! They were the GIANT ones and even the leaves that did come out were huge...ahh well we will try again next year...hopefully it will be a cooler summer and a colder winter! We need RAIN...we are 10 inches deficite and crops are suffering here which means food prices are going to go up if we lose the corn & beans that are planted in the fields around my small town..... Even with all the rain in the last month, NY is in a rain deficit too, about 5.5 inches. I had to go to NJ the other night, while waiting for the bus home, I got to watch a mother skunk & her two kits, very cute, they were attracted to the garbage can at the stop, I think, lots of food and drinks in it.

The heat wave has come back...again! My plants on my deck are suffering from the heat, too. I didn't even bother getting tomatoe and strawberry plants, even though I bought 2 of those Topsy-Turvey platers. My chives have almost all died. I've had to stop my walking because it's too hot.
19 other people and I from my condo development are ready to take my homeowner's board and management company to court for misappropriation of funds and negligence. I had a contractor sent over here to make anestimate to have my bedroom ceiling replaced (again). When I told this guy about all the money that was wasted the first time, he was shocked. He told the management company that my roof needs to be replaced. That's the same thing that another contractor and I told the management company last year.
I was told Friday that I will be sent out of town on transfer because "we have no work here in NY". I was told that I was being sent to New England. I won't know where in NE I will be going to until Tuesday morning. This is coincidental that the last time I was sent on a transfer was 5 years ago when i went to D*C. Now I'm going to C6 and I'm on transfer again.
