How did you find The Jedi Assembly? What then led you to decide to make a costume to join?
The council is trying to figure out the most effective recruiting techniques. Does having a table at cons bring us new members? Does it work to just walk around in great Jedi costumes and give info cards to those who ask for more info?

I found The Jedi Assembly by internet search when I was looking for information about making a more accurate Jedi costume.

Same here. My wife and I wanted to do Jedi costumes for Halloween a few years ago and I found TJI when I was looking for costume resources.

Same here.... originally an Internet search in 2005 looking for a Jedi robe for Halloween, and then about two years later I met some members who were trooping at a SW book release at my local bookstore.

I was looking for info on building a hardware saber for my brother. I got hits on the Big Yellow Box site and TJA right off. I bookmarked the TJA since I loved what I saw here. I then dug into the BYB site, made the saber, and came back to the TJA. Read a bunch on the boards and have never left.....I am thinking of changing my name to the "Naked Jedi" since a hilt and belt are all I have managed to produce (money being never my friend). :-)

I saw an article in "Star Wars Insider" 'way back when and said to myself "Now that's a group I could really get into..." The rest is history. I didn't have a costume at the time, but starting investigating and it was only a couple of weeks later that the only local costume shop starting going out of business sale, so I went and bought their only Jedi costume and started there.

I made my first Jedi costume for a renaissance wedding, a knight is a knight. Made a real screen accurate costume to join the Rebel Legion and work at CII. (I went to CI, but did not have a costume). When researching anything Jedi on the internet I stumbled upon TJA web site. That was almost 10 years ago.

Let's see going back to 2005 & C111. I had made up my mind to go to my 1st Star Wars convention. I was reading things about C111 & some of the fan things there & I saw TJA listed. To say at that time I was shocked that there was actually a group dedicated to all Jedi was a complete understatement. I knew I was going to costume as a Jedi---very very tacky Jedi at that after what I saw. I made a point to find the TJA table & find out if they would even accept me? After all I was pretty old & I was so very very green. I think I was one of the few very naive Star Wars fans who loved C111. I think I met Jedimom there at the table---I know I went back more then one time. I met the other members there as well. Well after C111 I came home & signed up right away & just hoped that I might possibly be accepted. I know at C111 I had made up my mind to make a much better Jedi costume then I started with & I believe I was official in July 3 months later---even I couldn't believe how fast I got my costume together. I then did my 1st event in July 2005 with Schph & some others & the rest is history. I remember when I put my official Jedi costume on for the very 1st time & was rather overwhelmed by it. I understood then & there how heavy & hot it could be to wear by the actors & could give them the credit of wearing it. I still would rather wear my Jedi in 95 degree heat then be in the cold. Jedi is the only costume I will wear & I have several versions of it.

A thread on the Official website called a "A Jedi Call To Arms" I already had made a costume and had worn it to a couple of events.

Found it on an internet search, been researching a costume I can use when I read at the local library. I already have an Imperial Scout, a Tuskin Raider and a Mandalorian Merc costume. Need something that doesn't require a helmet.
