Thanks for posting this - I also recall reading these scenes in the book version of ANH.
By the way, did anyone read the comments from other viewers? I have to vent a bit, and say that I am sick to death of folks dissing either the OT or the Prequels. I like them both, even though I lean toward the Prequels as my favorites. However, I would never trash one or the other, and I am sick of armchair critics spouting off as if they speak for all fans.

I remember hearing those scenes of Luke watching the space battle in the radio play. I have that on CD. Lucas had a lot of material for ANH. I'm just glad that they put some of the Biggs bits back in the DVDs!
I agree, I'm tired of people 'piling on' the prequels (and Jar-Jar who was only mildly annoying for me). There is no way Lucas could have re-created the magic generated by ANH. It's a different time now. They should get over it.
I LOVE the Jedi stuff we get in the prequels. I'd been waiting to see the real Jedi back story since I saw ANH.
