I have been on the hunt for a Pepsi R2 cooler. I was hoping for the older version, but when one of my friends on another collecting site found out about my quest, he and I started a very fast set up.
He wrote saying he had a newer Ep. 3 version. I was unsure about this, since everything I could find out about them said they were smaller. So I had him measure and it indeed stands as tall as the older version. PLUS the "camera eye" on the newer version protrudes while the older one is just a sticker. And even better, he said if I showed up, he would give e R2 for FREE!!!
So on Monday, Nerf had a dr. appt. in Ann Arbor, MI. We had planned on starting out to Chicago area to pick up R2 after the appt. since they normally run long, catch a hotel somewhere in between, and the fiinish the drive Tuesday and come home.
Nerf (the old truck driver) decided to drive straight through so we did. Went up for the dr. appt. in Ann ARbor then across I-94 to Illinois and back down route 30 back to home. 600 miles and 14 hours total (including doc appt.). Left at about 11:00 a.m. and returned at 1:00 a.m.
R2 is a tad beat up, but you can't tell if you don't look closely!

I had a dream last night for some reason I was at school with the R2 and all the brats I went to class with were taking him apart while I as trying to buy tickets for someone else on a computer that wouldn't let me log in. They took off all the decals and for some reason the dome was collapsable and hecame in sections.
The cool thing was that R2 had a projector and as playing clips from the new Clone Wars movie. How he got those since its an Ep3 cooler, I never figured out

Here you can see the differences between them -- quite a few differences
