Bough mine friday night (that would be sept. 26th) and was done reading it by late saturday/sunday morning.
Let me just say that it was awesome!
(I still don't like the cover though...)

Agreed...it was not the death that made me cry (it actually made me mad!)...it was the aftermath of the death that had me in tears I was so shocked at the reactions of everyone to the death!! I also really liked the Order 66 scene with Maze/Ordo/Zey....not what I expected!! So...do you think Sev is alive? Who else do you think will desert??

I know it would be better to have read the series first, but is this a book one can read and enjoy by itself?
[OK, "enjoy" is probably a poor word choice... maybe "appreciate" would be better.]
I've heard good things about it several places so I was thinking about picking it up.

I felt the same way...tears not so much for the death itself but for the aftermath. As for Sev.....well, I certainly hope he is alive! Ah, suspense. I hope we don't have to wait too long for the next book in the series.

I've heard good things about it several places so I was thinking about picking it up. hmmm...tough call...they are each so good in their own way. Hard Contact is where you meet everyone and fall in love with them. Triple Zero is where Deltas and Kal and Vau enter the picture and is a fast paces action adventure!! True Colors was kinda slow IMO...so I'd avoid it. Order 66...rocked...but if you ahve not read any other book you may not be 'in' to the characters enough to appreciate all that happens. So I guess I'd start with either Hard Contact or Triple Zero first ;D

I've been not reading this thread carefully, but will be starting this by the weekend I think. That is, if I can find a copy.

Anybody know the PB release date? I didn't expect it to be in HC as none of the others were, or at least I never saw them that way.

I was so excited when the book was first released, I went ahead and spent the money on the hardcover.....just like the publisher likes for us to do. May is an awfully long time to wait for the paperback! Anyhow, I just finished reading it for a second time. I wonder what will become of Scout?
