Hello Canadian Order, As you will notice, the French in your forums has been removed. This is due to the fact that as of month ago I realized that posting in any language other than english was against the Terms of Service for Proboards. See 3. C. www.proboards.com/tos.html Had we been found out, we risked having our entire message boards deleted without warning. The Council apologizes for not having the foresight to use a message board that would allow posting in all languages many years ago. We are however, working on a solution to this problem. Being a worldwide costuming organization, we realize that it is to our benefit as a whole that our members be able to communicate in their native languages. Please bear with us as we work on a solution to this situation. Thank you for your understanding an co-operation! Xana Assembly CO

If anyone has any questions, comments or want to talk about it, or simply wants to discuss in french, feel free to PM me.
I've been in contact with Xana and the Jedi Order on the matter, and the decision to remove french posting until a solution has been found hasn't been an easy one. We are looking at alternatives to proboard or other way to integrate multilinguistic posting (not only for French, but looking forward to future expension of the Assembly in other tongues)
Again, for anything don't be shy to PM me. I might not answer right away, but I try to always answer PMs in a timely manner.

The only issue I can see is the need for a moderator for each language allowed. The TJA would need to be able to moderate each language. Babelfish doesn't really cut it in this area. There is free message board/forum software available that could be used, but the switch over could be prohibitive in terms of db conversions. There is also the possible switch to a non-proboards, paid host....no more ads needed on the site unless the TJA got click through revenue. As always I am sure the council will arrive at a "wise" decision.

3. CONTENT RESTRICTIONS
Your web site must conform to the following standards to be eligible to utilize this service:
1. User's content must comply in a manner consistent with any and all applicable laws of the State of California and the US Federal Government. 2. User's web site may not contain content promoting the use of illegal drugs, alcohol, sex, pornography, nudity, or any other form of adult content, profanity, hate, "spam," fraud, racism, mlm, pyramid schemes, or promote any illegal activity. 3. User's message board and Web site must be in English.
That does seem like a bit of a crock, doesn't it?

Not really. Since, as the parent/host site, Proboards can be held responsible for the contents of sites they host and would need to occassionally "sample" sites to check up it stands to reason...."from a certain point of view".

what I find very weird is that other similar forums systems don't have language restrictions. Take example in Yuku, EZboard and various others. Heck, the lord of the rings forums "Tolkien Online" or "The One Ring dot Com (TORC)" at www.theonering.com/ have online translations of both real and imaginary languages might it be german, spanish, dwarven or plain old quenya. There are TONS of online forums not 100% based english, and the nature of a forum is that the hosting company cannot be held responsible of all of the content. this argument doesn't hold very strong in my personal opinion. Not every planetary systems rely only on basic
