I missed it last year- but I'll try and make it this year on Saturday maybe. All my spare money is for D-Con right now.

Ki Vaan, a lot of our local SW people are going to DragonCon this year, but also a lot are going to Toronto SFX that happens to be at the same time, and have Shatner AND Nemoy as guests... I will most likely be attending SFX fon one day.
In any case, this year promise to be great for TT20, its the 20th anniversary of the Con.
I myself will be there the WHOLE week-end. I got lucky ennough to actually win a week-end package.

For those going to TT20, weapon's policy.
I think we're safe to bring a lightsaber, but blasters might be more complicated.
some other groups might have more problems - I'm thinking USCM or SG costuming - apparently they won't tolerate any type of replicas of currently existing firearms.

It's a dicey situation (not to stray too far off topic). Stargate costumers do use modern day replica firearms (usually airsoft) such as a P90 or MP5. These would definitely be a no-no according to TT's weapons policy. But USCM costumers (such as myself) might (and it's a very small might) be allowed to carry an M41A pulse rifle replica. The M41A is a fictional weapon and does not exist in the real world. Really there isn't anything out there (except maybe the XM8 or OICW) that remotely resembles a pulse rifle. The problem is that a pulse rifle still looks like a submachine gun to the average person. And USCM armour basically looks like modern day combat armour to the untrained eye. So as not alarm Joe Average (and especially any police officers that might be there) the Con security will probably not allow a pulse rifle- it doesn't look like a phaser after all. Blasters are another story- most blasters (especially Han Solo and Stormtrooper style replicas) are directly based on modern weapons with some minor add-ons. Technically they are still replica firearms. A blaster on its own (being carried by someone in street clothes) will probably not be allowed- but they might make an exception if it is carried by someone wearing full white stormtrooper armour (in which case the blaster is easily recognized as part of a sci-fi costume). Really it's all up to the discretion of the Con security. But should I attend- I will probably be in either my Jedi robes, or my ST II: TWOK captain's uniform.

Nope we are all good, as you can see you can have your side arms peace bound and permitted, we had no problems at last years convention, and the weapon policy is the same.

Primrodo I was talking with some of the outter organisers of Con-Cept Montreal, and I heard about the weapon's policy being kinda hard for modern weapons for that con, but also that it was supposed to be the same weapon's policy as what is to be used "this year" at TorontoTrek. I fail to see where the policy would prevent us from having safebonded modern weapons, but in our local forums in Montreal, the discussion has been openned. in any case, I need to find drop-leg holsters or to forget the sidearms at home Ky_Wan I agree C4 will cost an arm and a leg, but you get lucky, plane ticket alberta-california will cost less then quebec-california Too bad we won't see you at T-Trek. I hope to actually go to C4, but being in the planning stages of getting a house, I might sadly skip that one.

Google maps tells me this is 9 hours from me. Makes sense... it takes me 8 hours to get to Niagra.
With COSI on the 15th, the only way this could work for me is if I had no one else riding with me to COSI, but I do. Unless they want to go to this event also, I will not be able to go.
It would be nice to see all of you.

Ifever they want to visit Toronto-Trek, you'd all be welcomed. I fully agree it would be great to meet all of us.
We should manage some TJA meetup somewhen during the con.

thanks Olos, enjoy the trek for me. If ya can't go to C4 I'll return the favor of course I will. I hope you enjoy SG1 and Andromeda, because that is going to be the main theme of that con for me. I'll share pictures with you all on my way back Ki Vaan Zion: we should manage to make some get-together with all canadian TJA at some point, picture taking and all. I don't have any room number and don't know the place very much, but it would definately be a good idea to manage to have everyone's contact info - what do you guys think?
