Well, I see that the LED sabers are VERY awesome looking (compared to my EL)... So, I want to convert my EL saber from The Saber Werks into a Luxeon LED blade. I can get the kit from CSS and everything, and it shouldn't be hard to put the electronics in the hilt, my question is, will this even work (saw something about the blade width being different from EL and LED), and has anyone done it and can give me some pointers to look out for. If it would be difficult is there any place that will outfit (convert) a non MR EL hilt? Here is my saber if anyone has seen this kind before: Thanks everyone, An'Joh

I am also interested in converting my EL hilts to LED.
I haven't really done any research, but here's what Ryan from Randomsabers said when I asked him about it:
"I have heard rumors that the owner of the TRIAGE hilts is converting them all to LED...which is an amazing feat, considering they were machined as Stunt sabers.
Having said that: it is possible to convert your EL hilt into an LED hilt, with the proper pieces. If you dont want to have to bore out the emitter to 1"(which has become a more standard for LED blades) you can have a custom made 3/4" LED blade made up. The folks at Corbins can help with that. Generally, the biggest concern is battery space in an LED saber. You really should have around 5V of power to run an LED setup, which usually amounts to 4 AA or 4 AAA batteries. So long as you have the battery space and room for a driver (or not) there is no reason why you can have an LED saber made out of an EL saber. "
5v? What about using the 9V batteries. I am wondering why that wouldn't be enough.

Saber's twin... you have this one too Mynn? That is awesome! Yeah he did an amazing job, the only thing I wish is that it had LED electronics in it But alas, I might just end up buying a new EL blade and get it over it, lol. An'Joh

it is very possible to put LED electronics in there, but the problem generally resides in heatsink and battery room. You actually need to have some room inside the hilt, more then general EL I believe.
Also, the blade diameter is generally 3/4" for EL, and generally 1" for luxeon-LED. It makes a better result (and is more conform to litterature.) You *can* have a 3/4" led blade made, but the best results are obtained by 1".
All the troubles you get for making a saber LED-ready is complicated but well worthed when you can compare them brillantly to the MR FX ones.
if I'd be you I'd comtact the CSS and ask their opinion - they might be able to sell you everything you need to make the blade of your specific saber without problems.
