I don't get how it can be copyright as opposed to trademark (unless you guys are just using it more as a general term). Lightsaber is officially in the dictionary which would technically mean it's just any other word. copyrighting it would be like trying to copyright the word airplane. they can trademark it though which means noone else can sell anything with that name. I may be mistaken but that's always how I've always been taught it works.

you're right, the term lightsaber is a trademark... but also the lightsabers seen in various films are copyrighted. Selling a replica of a movie lightsaber enfringe trademarks and copyrights.

ok, its copyrighted but with all the MIllions hes making, why going so crazy. Its like he would take action on everybody who makes his own lightsaber. And by the way, most of thing who see in SW its inspired form Flash Gordon or other old SCIFi thing. Did somebody took action againts him?
