Greetings! I am wanting to stop using a gun carrying case for my Lightsaber especially since I have the Obi-Wan now. Any suggestions on what to use instead? What do you all use to transport your FX or other bladed sabers in?

A soft guitar case! lol! I can fit many sabers in it, along with my costume!

I've seen our imperial guard transport their pikes in PVC tubes with foam... I like the idea and it is inexpansive.

I use a canvas duffle bag. If you go to ebay and search under "duffle bag 50" ---the 50 is for 50 inches, so you get one that is long enough, but 46" will work, too, though 40" is not long enough--- you will get lots of examples that work. They're about $25.
I put the FX in the box it came in and put that in the duffle bag with robes, clothes, whatever, around it.
However, with a duffle bag, you will want a folding luggage cart to drag it around with.

I'm like you Tanthos. I use a rifle case. $8 at Wal-Mart

I like that idea of a pvc pipe lined with foam. That seems like the sturdiest way to do it.

If I'd do one, I'd manage to cut open a PVC pipe in 2, add hinges and some type of locks, and fill that with foam. I'd add some handles in the outside.
Being that I have a handmade light-up saber with removable blade and not a master replica, I have a smaller cardboard tube with foam lining for the saber, and I put the blade about anywhere to carry around. (It's too long for the luggage I use for the outfit, so...)
in any case, I hope those suggestions will help, master Jorlac.

I have just now gotten home with a 3" wide PVC tube that I am going to paint either brown or black. The foam inset will be one of those pool noodles you see at WalMart. It's a work in progress. Maybe I should take pics?

My first though was to not cut the tube, but drill a hole at each end and string a carrying strap through. Then I would wrap the saber with the foam and slide it in.
Think that would work?

I used one of my old canvas bags from the military time for swords or sabers

I had planned on gluing a carry strap to the outside using a leather belt cut for such a use.

I like the idea of the leather belt. I am uncertain I'd use glue alone, tough.

I would definitely cut holes for attaching a strap. Glue is unlikely to hold over time.

Over at TF.N's C4 board, people say that if you have the original packaging (including the big brown box it is shipped in) just re-pack it. You'll want all the styrofoam, obviously. I for one saved my packaging for this purpose.

I use one of the large extending plastic poster tubes to carry sabres and blades around. I just added peices of foam at each end. One end screws off for access and it has a shoulder strap. Best thng is the adjustable length though. As I can make it shorter when transporting just blades instead of an FX sabre. These, but Id shop around for price as this was just the first one I found on a search. www.draftingsteals.com/30257.html
