If the one from Hong Kong had to be machined, then it isn't a Larbel - its a Larbel knock off. I would almost question that one...
Larbel doesn't make them anymore so there is no way he would be machining more, since he is an MR employee (or vendor, not sure which anymore)
TFX is good - I have bought from him on many occasions and he has done the same from me.

Well the HK one arrived yesterday- finally! Been waiting about 6 weeks for it. I kinda knew it was going to be a knock off, as this seller was selling these at a rate of four or five a month (he couldn't have had that many actual Larbels on hand). It was worth the wait though! It's absolutely gorgeous! In fact it's better looking than the EL version I have. I'll get a pic posted when I get back from work. Now I'm torn as to whether or not I'll sell it.

I've got two lightsabers. One appears to be a rubies one and thats the one I wear on my costume. I know Rubies costumes are not allowed at TJA but under the lightsaber section it just says not to have a hasbro one or a flashlight. Nothing about Rubies. So I hope my lightsaber will be accepted as there is no way I'd be able to make one. My other one is a hasbro one which my brother and I bought between us. I can't wear it on my costume as the blade doesn't retract fully due to the electronics in the hilt.

farrasti: They specifically said two that people generally try out, but you should understand the essence of the rule more then the words individually... they don't want toy sabers, so I wouldn't expect too much from your rubies. it isn't very more complicated to build a saber out of hardware store parts... When I sum it up, my lightsaber hilt by itself did cost me about 30$ (plumbing pipe: 10$ hex bolt: 2$ a dozen sliding door material for metal grip: 7$ for 8 foot peper shaker for the shroud: 1$ O-Rings: 3$ Thumbscrews: 5$ Endcap: 2$) and I used only simple tools (dremel, drill, tap) See the result. If I can do that, so can you. remember, this is a costuming association, and standards is what makes such an association as good as it can be. If they'd allow people to use whatever they feel to spare on the costume, why not accepting bathrobe, flashlight and not be a great costume association? The props necessary to complete your costume are only necessary to gain full membership here. If you feel its ennough for your tastes, its OK for you at home, but migh be less then what's expected to become full member... I myself already troop with my local SW association in a costume that I have yet to complete in order to gain full membership here... I don't ask them to bend the rules for me, I'll bend my costume for them. That's how it works.

Okay, new addition to the saber collection! This one I'm quite proud of, its a replica Anakin saber from RotS. It was built by me from parts attained from a number of sources - its been in the works for a while but I've only just been able to get my hands on the end cap. Turned out quite well UPDATE: Well the paint on my Obi Wan saber dried faster than I thought, so I'll show that off too! Also just completed, modified from a Parks usk obi. The emitter was custom machined to the right length and came with the Anakin end cap today. And finally, two of a kind: I'm so happy that they are both finally finished Now I have to start thinking about whats gonna be next... ;D

Thanks Leda! The hardest part to make accurate was the emitter section on the Obi Wan, and I've now changed it to make it more accurate - Just turned the windvane upside down so that the lip is on the bottom (makes the copper section longer too)
