And Jeffrek... you sound like me. I have a collection of sabers, seven in all, not including the hasbro plastic toys or MR force effects, and hopefully soon I'll be motivated to photograph the display! Two are EL sabers from Lightech Industries, one is an EL blade built by Ahnuuld (Saberworks), one is an old Parks prototype, one is a non-working replica of Obi-Wan TPM, and one is an authentic graflex converted to a Luke ESB, also non-lighted. But the one I posted up top here is the only one I wear on my belt with my Jedi costume. It's rather special to me because I had a hand in its creation. I decided what color I wanted it and what kind of electronics went inside. A lightsaber is a very personal thing you know... you just can't wear any ol' saber! ;D

My original home made lightsaber I made this one without power tools and got the idea from Maggie of Padawan's Guide. I still have an attachement to it as my first. However, my fav and what I wear on my belt is I made it with some help and instruction in using the dremel from Badger, one of our local members here in Seattle. He's an excellent props guy. It is a Big Yellow Box, version II Here are others: the first one I made to hold an acrylic blade this is a very simple duelling saber, which also holds a blade:

Leda I know what you mean when a sabre design is personal. Theres so much more attachment to it. I too have one of the Sabreworks sabres and I feel an attachment to it too as I did the original design for it It was done as the smaller 'brother' to my main sabre, you should notice several design similarities between them. Laan you are very good at photography work. You seem to have a talent for 'staging' what you are taking a picture of that showcases it well and brings out the best of it. The setting and background props turn what would otherwise be a popular sabre design into something a little more unique and 'yours'.

Thanks Jeffrek, that was exactly why I went to the effort in the staging. This is the only saber I own. I've not branched out into making one from scratch. I think I have the ability, I just don't have the tools yet. I focused on making my own garb and purchased the saber. One day I'll make my own. Yours is fantastic, by the way. It reminds me of some of the sabers from the Dark Forces games.

Lann, I like how you have made the display for your sabre in the pictures. VERY nice. It adds an archival feel to it.

I used Gorrila glue to glue it all together ( yes its like rubber cement that bonds to everthing including you!) !/4 inch by 3 ft square peices cut into 1 inch section also bought where i bought the aluminium rod. and a facet handle painted and also bought at lowes LOL! All about 20 dollars after i paid for it all

This is my first lightsaber I made (with the halp of my dad with the tools) It is a PVC pipe lightsaber. I called it the Riveter because of all the rivets in it (20) You can see my photo album documenting the making of it hereMy second lightsaber and the one I currently carry. I attmpted TPM Obi-Wan. However I decided to use grey leather in the grip and emitter so I painted everything else in the opposite color. So I called it the Obisite (Obi-wan and oposite) The blade is thick PVC painted with reflective paint so with my blacklight on or even the flash of a camera it glows. You can see more pictures of it here However I forgot to take pictures as we made it. My third one I don't have a picture of bacuse it was for my nephew on his 6th birthday. However my fourth one is very similare to his with just the addition of a few extra o-rings. So I called it the Jacob II There are a couple of detailed pics here As you can see it isn't finished and it has been this way for over a year. I have been using it to prove to people that it is PVC Pipe. I plan to make several metal sink pipe lightsaber before April. I have all the directions printed and will begin gathering supplies soon. I will post a pic after I finish one.

Cool, Jen-ru... that faucet knob seems to be popular. Thanks for sharing! and thanks tengence, for that recipe... I'm gonna try it! I should be fun going into home depo and explaining to the relentlessly helpful salesmen what I'm doing with these plumbing parts!
