It looks wonderful! I've considered making a Tusken, but it's not high on my priority list for costumes. How does it feel to wear? Where did you get the metal parts?

Were do you get the metal pieces for the mask? I know alot of people don't like to share there sources, but I'd really like to know, cause I'd like to make one myself.

thanks for the comments. jaiven....i think it's funny that you dont think i would want to share my source...but you attempt to "convince" me by saying..."I really wanna know!" Ridiculous anyway...the latex part and the silver "nose" piece are from the Godzilla kit...the rest of the pieces are modeled after the godzilla kit...a friend of mine machined the metal pieces...using the godzilla prop as a rough guide...i used leather and lambskin for the mouth parts..the fabric is duck canvas from walmart.
This is not a piece where anyone really should hold back their source...cuz it's a DIFFICULT piece to build, even if you have all the pieces handed to you. lots of time and different techniques. I bet half of the godzilla kits that get purchased never get built.
pm me if you're interested in the contact info for Godzilla...not sure if it's still valid though...

ani...the mask is a bit heavy and requires a hard hat liner on the inside when wearing it...to keep it in the right position....of course...there's no peripheral vision at all...i'd imagine walking around a con would require a guide or someone to hold your hand.

Theyrenotdolls,
My apologies of I gave you the wrong impression. Please know that I did not intend to say that you would be like. I honestly did not. That was just a jeer at some poeple not of the assembly who read the board from a certain other group I will not name. Alot of them do like to reveal their sources for some odd ball reason. But yet they want people to join their group. Funny. If I offended you in anyway, I do apologize. Thank you for the information. It was most appreciated.

The odd ball reason is that there is a belief (based on some experience) that LFL trolls message boards looking for unlicensed dealers in order to shut them down. So some people prefer not to put such sources in legal jeopardy and only send the info as a PM.

A friend of mine is making a Tusken. He's gone about it completely differently, casting and machining all the bits himself.

kai... my machinist friend (actually got into machining just to be able to make lightsabers...lol) worked very hard on his tusken pieces...even though he is very talented...he said machining the "nose piece" would be beyond difficult. I guess that's why "godzilla" makes his out of resin. if you friend figures out a way to machine the nose piece...let me know please. Also, if he wants any tips or help while constructing the mask...tell him to contact me.
regarding giving up sources, etc. ....pm is a better way to do it, not simply because of LFL's all watchful eye, but also because when giving a source...many see it as an endorsement of that product...for something as complicated as a tusken kit, etc. i'd hate for someone to take my advice...spend a lot of money on a kit and not have it meet their expectations.
surely the maker of the godzilla kit gets lots of emails regarding his product...and he probably never hears from most of those people again. if his name were plastered all over message boards...the number of emails he'd receive would multiply, but i doubt the number of kits sold would change very much at all.
Also, a good rule of thumb that i have picked up is this : info received via pm is info best given by pm

I don't think he machined the nose piece. I think that was cast. He describes some of the process in his LJ sablebadger.livejournal.com/ he's also badger on RPF so he may be posting about it there.
