I made mine extra wide, so that the edges would overlap when I use straps or Velcro or Snaps, I'll be making more than one set, and not sure how I'll be closing them. I may try different methods. I have 2 more sets planned, for various costumes.
The width I made them make them very adjustable. The straps aren't punched with holes for the buckle to adjust enough for someone much smaller than me, but more holes could be punched. I've had some male friends try them on and they can get them adjusted to fit, as well. I wanted to be able to adjust them to wear them on my bare arms, or over sleeves, if I choose, which I haven't done yet.
He can cut them down, for laces, since you'd want the edges to meet, not overlap.
I think mine look cool with my Jedi garb, I've been wearing them lately when in costume, but I'm still breaking them in at the wrists, they're still a little bit stiff there, though they are softening up and flaring out a little, which I need them to do, it seems. My wrists tend to get a bit sore after a few hours. I made then faily hard on purpose.

So where do you buy the leather to make the bracers?

Yep, that's where I go, too. I have 3 ever-shrinking sides of leather of different thicknesses for various projects that I do.
You can get single shoulders, if you are only doing a few small projects. I have lots of projects in my head, so I have lots of leather. The thicker leather is for my articulated Sith armor when I finish designing it and want to work on it. (Oops! Did I say that out loud? On this site? )
I'm lucky enough to have a Tandy Leather shop in my county, so I can go and check out the leather before I buy it.
I would recommend 5/6oz, or 7/8oz, somewhere in that range. I always used the vegetable tanned leather.
You will need a good finish, after you dye your leather. I like Tandy Satin Sheen, some like other ones.
They also make an all-in-one product that is stain and finish, but I haven't tried any of those. It looks like it comes in 6 colors. I prefer to have more of a color choice, since there are more dye colors than just those.

I think I'll go with what I see in the pictures. Maybe a raw silk would flow nicely. The boots look the same color as the belt and bracers. I orginally have caramel colored suead pants for her pants, and latigo type brown for the boots, belt and bracers. It could work, but I don't really know. Any ideas of what color her pants actually are? Her pants are a dark apricot her boots and belt are the same color and if you care her saber is bluish-green though you cant really tell in the pic the actual color is called sunriders destiny

I made some "bracers" (or gauntlets) out of imitation leather....made a pattern out of paper to match my arm dimensions...then sewed the imitation leather with a little batting and a soft flannel backing...then sewed in some detail design...they came out pretty good...but I have to admit... I never really wear them much....
Mine are not quite so long...and go about an inch under the elbow...
they are held by velcro along the length of the bracer and stay on really snugly...I applied the velcro to the flannel lining...so that from the outside...you can't see that there is any stitching...

I finally got mine! Here's some pics. Bracer (top) Bracer (side) Bracer (flat) Does anyone have any suggestions on how to lace the thing? Currently, they're just laced like shoelaces.
