Any body know how to make a pair of jedi gauntlets or armor that a jedi would wear, at least a link to a site that has them so I can get some general idea on how to make em?

Do you mean armor like what the clones wore? The kind that Obi-Wan wore in the Clone Wars cartoons? The best place to ask for that kind would be a 501st forum. It's basically the same as stormtrooper armor, but I don't know anything about vacu-forming plastic, which is how they make stormtroopers.

I mean something like leather type gauntlets. Some a older jedi wood wear like from the jedi civil war or the great hyperspace war i.e. Exar kun, ulic qel droma, etc.
I made myself a set of bracers in May, to wear with my own Jedi garb. They aren't that hard to do.
The hardest part was making the pattern, so that the slight cone shape was right and the tops and bottoms lined up properly. Took a bit of trial and error, but I always make my initial patterns using brown craft paper, then make a "template" out of poster board, when doing my leather work.

That is what I meant!! BRACERS I'll have to check out that site thanks! Also do you have any of the pattens left over that i can get a look at to get any ideas from?

I already have the bottom portion. I really don't want to glue this peice on. It won't function right.

Heh, Jauhzmynn, I plan on making Nomi Sunrider's bracer's, too. I've already got the dye, and the basic pattern. But I am going to glue the raised design on them, I don't see any other way to do that, and I think it'll work fine, once all the pieces are wet-molded to shape. I should be able to just slide them on and not have to open them much and disturbed where the design is glued on. The thing I haven't figured out yet is how I want to close them.
In the picture I'm going off of,
they don't seem to have any seam, so I don't know how I'm going to keep the contour's looking smooth where the edges go together. I'll probably end up using Velcro, but I'm still not sure yet.
What are your ideas for closing them?
Andle Di-Ranos, yes, I have patterns "left over". I always keep my leather working patterns when I'm finished with a project, in case I want to reproduce something again some day.
I can take a pic of the pattern with my webcam, that will at least give you an idea of what I did.
And maybe, if you are really desperate (and nice to me ), I can trace the pattern onto more craft paper and send it to you. It's very adjustable, size-wise and you can and embillish the pattern as you see fit.

I'm using that picture too Loreen. I think they just show them having no closure just for the art thing not for practicality. (she'd never be able to fit them over her hand let alone over her tunic sleeve.) I'm going to use laces for to close mine since they'er already there. Your buckle method it seems to look best and seems to be the easest to close one handed. You DID inspire me with an interesting idea with the velcro though.

I have to admit, I like the look of those Kendo bracers... Might have to invest in some of those ;D On a side note, the diagram of the lacing on that page... That's how Andy Robinson had his boots tied in Dirty Harry ;D I'm not sure why, but I always thought Nomi Sunrider had blonde hair... That said, her daughter had red hair, so I'm not why I thought she was a blonde ;D

The Kendu ones do look good, bractical too. They'd actually dampen the feel of getting the wrists whacked. Yep Nomi looks like an aubrun haired woman. It might not take much to put a few of those highlights in my hair. It was that color but Florida's sun lightened it.

I would love to have the patterns but if it is too much trouble a picture will do fine

I think I'll go with what I see in the pictures. Maybe a raw silk would flow nicely. The boots look the same color as the belt and bracers. I orginally have caramel colored suead pants for her pants, and latigo type brown for the boots, belt and bracers. It could work, but I don't really know. Any ideas of what color her pants actually are?

I'm not sure what color her pants are. I have a sort of goldish fabric that I got for them.
I'm going to do the bracers in sort of a gold color, too. I haven't done the patterns for the design yet, this whole project is in the back burner right now till I feel like finding out what's wrong with my sewing machine, and figure out how I want to make the tunic. I guess this would be a good costume to start playing around with cheap muslin mock ups for that, which I've never done before.
Though now I'm starting to feel like I want to get started on the bracers, at least.
I'm going to do her cape in green on the outside and lined in gold. Sort of a combination because I've seen her in green capes, and I thought that would make a nice-looking combination. So I'm not doing mine exactly like the above pic, but close. I'm kind of doing my own interpretation of it, and trying to have fun with it. So I'm not trying to be too hard core with it, but chose colors that I think will look good together. But will hopefully be close enough to the pic so that I can submit it as another costume to add at the Rebel Legion. I know we already have a couple of Nomis over there, but I don't think I've seen this version done yet, though I haven't looked through people's costume's lately.
I thought I'd make the obi out of the same fabric that I line the cape with, if don't think it'd be too slippery, since it's satin. Otherwise I'll use some left over pants material.
I'm also going to do some tooling on the belt, just for the heck of it and I think it'd look cool. I already have some old boots that should work for this.
Wow, have we been hijacking this thread, or what?
Sorry , back on topic:
As for the bracer pattern, there's only one, you just turn it over . I may have to remember which side is for which arm, I don't remember if I labeled it.
I'll try to take a pic of it tonight, and get around to tracing it later (real hard job! lol ) Right now, I need to go take a nap, I just got home from doing another shift at work, after getting home from my last one at 11:45pm. I'm bushed!

I drew a life sized drawiing of the bracers. You can probably do the same for yourself. Loreen might be able to say how much extra to mark for closures. (Which ever type you decide to use, buckles or lacings)
