this may be a stupid question but I'm lost what is a skew and how does it help? sometimes named SKU - it's a part number lookup for a particular company Some are based on the UPC bar code of the item and some companies add their own part number for easy reference in their computer systems. UPC can be very useful since it is transparent to store. You can bring the UPC with you to different places and they can usually still look it up (Used to work at OfficeMax - some call it Nazi Death Camp)

A good place to check for just the pens (in package) would be e-bay. I just bought 20 pens for $23 including shipping by matching up the item code from the link on the first page to the item for sale. That's just a little more than a dollar per pen. Now my problem is finding the little plastic toppers. I'm going to check craft stores and Wal-mart first. I know about the plastruct website but the minimum order is $20 with $7 shipping, meaning I'd have to order about 50 of those little hemi-spheres when I only need about 12. Anyone have any extra?

Try your local fabric stores (and don't forget Walmart) and look for buttons that are the same diameter. Sometimes you can even find them in smaller bulk packs (about 20 ).

That sounds about right on price and quantity - I usually do runs of 60 food pellets because of the materials aspect. Let me kick around here and see if I have enough for you.... Personally I like the buttons because I can thread the button loop with craft wire and then wrap the ends of the wire with foil or duct tape before shoving into the pen cap. I find that this holds the cap tightly so that the botton doesn't shift position on the cap as the glue dries. Also prevents the button from falling off just in gase the glue ever failed. I don't know anyone else that does this... it's just my own thing.

The Staples near me has these pens. I am happy to buy some and ship them to anyone who wants them. The packages cost $6 for 4 pens, and the shipping including the envelope was about $2 to IL. So figure $2 for the shipping in the US.
Anyone want em?
I have to pick Leda up some soon................ :-D

Leda did you seriously order some of those pens because if so tell me how they work out Yes, Plo, I got the pens in the mail and they work fine. However this is not the best place to purchase them as they are overpriced and there is a hefty minimum shipping fee. It was worthwhile for me though, because I found some other deals for art supplies on that site that I needed, but if you can find the pens elsewhere... do so.

I received my pens from the auction today and they are indeed the correct pens. The same seller has another auction for 20 pens with a buy it now for $18.70 with $4.50 shipping. Here's the link cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=25352&item=7525864862&rd=1 Just look for the item number 4179WP4BK or some version of that to be listed with any other Staedtler auction and you should have the right pens. The new color of the pens is a good match for the darker silver/lead color of the food capsules which should help to hide nicks and scratches better. Hope this helps. Tim
