Hey no problem Leda! OMG they do look like little hot dogs! "Pigs in a blanket" anyone? LOL! I used to own a Rubies Obi-Wan Ep I costume (which I eventually sold on Ebay). I don't remember the food capsules being that mis-shapened. Pouches, well that's another story.

How do food capsules/pellets work? Well a while ago I made this up for a fan-fic I was writing: Obi-Wan deactivated the weapon and sat back down, resting the hilt in his lap. His smile faded, and a look of worry took its place. Again, he reached out through the Force and his belt drifted toward him. Silently, the Jedi opened two food capsules and consumed portions of their contents.
“The gold is mostly protein,” he said softly, “and the copper is concentrated amino acids. The silver contains high levels of glucose… I’ll have that later, right before our guests arrive.”

If I recall correctly, in TPM there were only two colour codes for food capsules: silver and gold.
Now with ROTS there are four yes? Silver, gold, copper, and brass?
I think the wardrobe department got a little ahead of themselves colouring the capsules with no rhyme or reason.
If I had to think of a coding scheme for the capsules there would be three colours: The first for caloric needs: a concentrated amount of protein, carbohydrates and fat (yes the body does require a specific amount of fat)- The second would be a multivitamin/mineral supplement, and the third would be water (or some fantastic concentrated version of it).

I always figured that they contained a fully nutritional powder, along the lines of say slim fast. The colors were different flavors.
