Schph, My paint rubs off too. I hadn't been able to solve it. I wonder if using some model paint may work. Shoot once I even used the chrome nail polish, and what's freaky? it looks BETTER then the silver spray paint I'd used. It doesn't rub off.

Model paint was going to be my next move. I bought some silver model paint last week...haven't tried it yet...nail polish sounds like a pretty good idea too! Hmmmm.....might use some red polish as accents on my blaster!

Sounds cool Schph, let me know how the model paint goes ok? Cuz if it works, I'm definatly going to use it.
Toba, how did your food capsules turn out? Did Schph's, Synn's and my advice help?

They came out fine, but I haven't got the pictures on the net yet. Thanks for the advice! I wouldn't have remembered to use primer.

The other day at work, I noticed a book about something called "precious metal clay." I flipped through it briefly, and although it was about jewelry-making, I wondered if I could use that clay to make food capsules. I haven't checked out prices or availability yet, but if I ever attempt it, I'll let everyone know how they turn out. Or if anyone beats me to it, you can let me know please. ;D

there is also a modeling clay called "Premo Sculpey" that someone made the "hardware" for a "Slave Leia" costume out of...from the pictures she had, it looked really good! I guess the stuff really molds well and takes paint well

See how the food capsules are centered on the belt? They used to stick up over the top about 0.5" , but I cut little holes in the belt for the pocket clips to go through.

Toba, I can't see the photos. All I get is a "remote link forbidden". I tried the geocities trick with a ? and copying and pasting into a new window. Nothin. I'm new here but have been making Jedi stuff for 4 years. I recently made more food capsules and did a photo tutorial public.fotki.com/kait/star_wars/I've found that sanding the plastic with a fine sandpaper, as others mentioned, than using a primer followed by the colored paint works. I've not had any trouble with flaking. I don't know where to get the Staedler pen caps. Mine were bought a couple years ago. They are technical drawing pens so you might try art supply or tech supply stores. When I bought mine, Office Depot carried them 5 to a card!
