No poodle skirts for me... My big sister had bell bottoms and my friends and I all wore pastel, shoulder pads, and big, big hair. Funny, the movies all show teens in the 80's wearing leg warmers, but I never actually saw anyone wearing them in real life. Maybe it was too hot for leg warmers here. I really wanted to be a Goth kid, though I didn't know that's what it was called back then. I learned about the clothes and shoes and the Cure and the Cult from Bop magazine, but they sure didn't have that stuff (or play that music) in small southern towns back then. I used to write scary poetry and lyrics on my notebooks though, and draw weird pictures and tell creepy stories. I desperately wanted my mom to get me a copy of a book called "10,000 Ways to Die". I had no idea what it was about, but I wanted to carry it around to creep the other kids out. Mom didn't care for the title for some reason.... (Turns out it was just a murder mystery novel, anyway.) I guess being creepy seemed better than being laughed at, somehow. Can you imagine that these days? I'd be hauled off to counseling now. Anyway... I think I or maybe my sister had one of those suitcase style record players. Maybe I inherited it from her when she got a real one. Who had a Lightbrite? -Lala

Oh yes. LiteBrite, handed down from all my brothers and sisters.
I had bell bottoms as a small child, my oldest sister had the poodle skirt. That's what I get for being the last child, 16 years younger than my oldest sister

Oh, Mon-Jas, Grant is very wise! What a great thing to say!
I had saddle shoes, and I had to be different, too-mine were brown and white.

Man, if I had kept all of my clothes from the 60's, my daughter would hjave saved alot of money...They all came back into style...and 10 times the price. I could make a skirt for 50 cents and today maybe 10 bucks....lol

Oooh, the 70's. I had an afro in high school. And bell bottoms. My hair just stands up on it's own when it's that short. One of the reasons why I like it longer.
