A work in progress. It is about 80% complete, needing the final details of the covertec knob and activator, but the essential body of the saber is complete. Having looked at a picture of the original, I've realized my dimentions are a bit off, but it's close enough that I'm happy with it. Pics to follow soon

I hadn't seen it, as I used the pictures at Luuke's for reference. It's funny how some parts of the saber are very accurate (dimensions of the black piping for instance) but some of the details (like the upper grip, emitter and lower pommel) are less so. When I made mine, I didn't have internet access (am uising my fiance's computer now ;D) so I was pretty much working from memory, which has meant that some of the proportions (upper grip cutouts compared to mid-grip cut outs) are unballanced, but that's what happens when working from memory The other thing that is innacurate about my version of the saber, is that the black pipe I inserted has much narrower corrugations than the original, but all in all, it looks okay I'm hoping to be able to upload some pics of it today or tomorrow

Here're the pics of how it is so far. It is finished apart from the covertec and control knobs. Please remember, this was done from memory, so the proportions are slightly skewed... [Edit to fix links]

Tanzan Linnear, I have got to know what are you using for the top of the emitter?

Tanzan Linnear, I have got to know what are you using for the top of the emitter? Similar to the other saber, but not quite. This one was the ring from a lock, a metal washer, but with a layer of aluminum tape sandwiched in between rather than the raised dowel of the other saber. I simply put the ring in place, stuck the aluminum tape on, glued the washer into place (making sure it was central) and then ran a scalpal around the edge of the washer to cut away the excess tape nice Quinlan Vos look-a-like Thanks It hasn't turned out as perfect as I'd've liked (proportions etc, and a mis-filed grip line) but overall, I'm pleased with how it's coming along, and can't wait to get the covertec and control knobs to finish it If I could find some more accurate black pipe, I might make another and take even more care, but I don't think I'll be able to find anything, so I'll just make do with it as it is The thing I'm most pleased about is probably the draw handle I used as the pommell, as it fits perfectly

Thanks I've salvaged the activator and covertec from my personal saber (as it's been 'shelved for further work', and used them to complete the Quinlan Vos hilt. I'll try and upload a picture of it tomorrow. I'd be honored to do a custom hilt for you, let me know the kind of thing you had in mind, and I'll let you know if it'd be possible

Thanks My only regrets are that the black pipe I used could not have been more accurate, and that I'd taken the time to check my measurements rather than working from memory. Other than that, I'm really pleased with it

its gorgeous tanzan, i mean your props are amazing. i just have a question, do you ever make sabre's that can accommodate a stunt blade?

Thanks I don't for three reasons. 1. I prefer the hilts purely as display/costume pieces, so they wouldn't have a blade under those conditions. The sabers (hero props not stunt ones) Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon had in TPM only had tiny holes on top of the blade projection plates, not 1/4 inch ones for a blade to be attatched, so that is the look I try to achieve with mine, as it's more 'authentic' 2. I don't have anyone to duel with and can't get to conventions often, so there's no need to have a physical blade 3. The techniques and methods I use for making the saber mean that they are essentially solid, (My idealized Obi-Wan saber, for example) so it's physically not possible to insert a blade into the hilt.
