Having shown this image to my fiance, she said that she wanted a similar saber: Due to constraints from building materials, I didn't go for an exact replica, but a close approximation. It is essentially hand-carved PVC shells, over a wrapped stainless steel core (which gives it a definite weight and balance point). If anyone is interested, I will write a tutorial for constructing something similar. Behold!:

I have the same problem as you had... girls all want that style of sabers ^_^
I'd be interested in a walktrue, I'd try to adapt it to my own techniques and make something out of it. I'd try to put a luxeon blade on it, so I'd need to be able to put electronics inside and have some heatsinks... it should be possible.

I'll write up the tutorial as I made it, but you'd definitely need to adapt the method slightly as it is (although not quite) essentially a solid piece. That said, it was built as a series of tubes and dowels, so you could no doubt use the outermost layers, and then have room inside for any electronics.

Wow... it's really beautiful... I've never made a saber from scratch before, but this one is too nice looking to pass up! I think I might try this.

Thanks, it is a pretty easy saber to do, just time consuming. If anything the hardest part might be finding a suitable egg-shaped piece for the pommel. (and of course, it would only be a case of altering the length of the Main Core to get the pommel to extend from the shrouds like the original)

heck yes i would be interested I love that saber I think the only thing the tutorial doesn't cover, is just how easy the saber actually is to make. It might seem long winded, but that was just my description of building up the pipes that give the Main Core it's weight. The only really difficult part about it is the carving of the Outer Shells, and that's more a case of having the right tools and the patience to take time and not hurry a cut.

I've never been a fan of the "organic" looking saber... its always been an EU thing, and just doesnt fit SW imo. Having said that, for what its attemping the saber you built is excellent, spot on aesthetically.

They can have an interesting look if done properly, but my personal preference is for the more 'common' metal/resin sabers, as those can at least be 'understood' or 'read' as to what does what and for what purpose, whereas the organic ones are more for aesthetic purposes than anything else. Never the less, Emily's really pleased with the saber, and that's all that matters

Yeah her Saber was always a sort of enigma to me. I hope they do a book or comic on how she escaspes Order 66 ...............until she's eventually killed by Vader.
