Call me a glutton for punishment, but I want 100% total honesty about this ;D I recently found a part that makes a perfect upper grip for a saber like Obi-Wan's ROTS/ANH or Luke's ROTJ saber. I made it purely with the intention of selling it on ebay (here if anyone's interested) and in my hurry to complete it, I used PVC piping for the lower grip (also because I'd sprayed some copper parts as the emitter and a metal tube would have looked out of place) However, now I know what I have to buy, I could in theory make more quite easily (if funds are available of course) so my question is how much do you think is could sell for as is? How much do you think an improved metal version could sell for (same basic design, but improved parts) Be as brutal as you like in the criticisms or suggestions, they're the only way I can accurately guage opinion of something for sale Behold! oh wow... that grip does make a great saber part. Is it metal? rubber? I'm guessing that if it's a grip it must be rubber...
I would suggest making it shorter, to look a bit more like the Obi-Wan RotS saber, but that's just aesthetics, based on my preferences.
Price? I would poke around ebay and track a few handmade sabers and see what they're going for. I'm not very good a pricing things... but I'm sure others will be able to advise you on that.

A local hardware store sells large plastic funnels (presumeably for motor maintenance), which has a flexible lower section (that the grip was cut from) of about 15 ridges. It's inch and a half in diameter, so just the right size for using with 'standard fitting' tubes and parts. The only problem with the material is that it is not entirely solid. It has to be mounted on an internal support to maintain a perfectly straight shape when held, and if the grip was to be trodden on or maybe squeezed too hard, it would deform and be unrepairable (might be possible to fill it with something to solidify it further...) The entire funnels only cost £1.99, if anyone wants one, I'd be happy to post one, as long as they sent the money to cover the part and the postage

Most Hardware sabers go for about 10 to 25 $ us, the ones that go higher are the hardware replicas from the films, starting at around 30 $ us and going up.

It looks great, but seeing as you used pvc for part of the grip, I would say that you could start bidding around $20. If you had used a metal (brass -chrome plated) which costs about $2 more than the pvc, I would Say $25/30. And if you have any electronics at all, then Start at $35/40.

It would sell, I'm sure--- For the price you want. And maybe there is a away you can make a mold of that rubber part, so then you can cast it in resin? Anyone here know about mold making for that purpose?

Thanks, I'm really pleased with how the upper section looks and turned out, I think the thing that 'lets it down' is the PVC and silver paint, but I was so excited to complete it, I let my impatience get the better of me ;D Even if it doesn't sell, it was an excellent prototype, I definitely know what to improve for V 2.0 (in metal ;D) Sadly, I don't have any materials for molding, but it might be worth looking into, as the part is perfect (if a little delicate ;D)

Thanks for the pricing tips I really had planned to use metal piping, but the diameter is tricky to come by in the UK, and I was in such an excited hurry to complete it, I went for the easy option of PVC ;D
