This is a lightsaber im going to start on this weekend(Drawn on mircrosoft paint) The pipe will be a metal one(1 1/4 inch X 12inches) The curved endcap and emitter are both PVC and painted with a tan Krylon paint(very good on pvc) haven't decided on the insides yet but it will probably be a sink basket like in Tenrics tutorial. The Grips are on there way from blastech and it will be connected by a D-ring Any suggestions?

Make sure you sand, and prime your PVC before you paint it. If you haven't already I'd get your buttons from RLSA (or is it RSLA, can't ever remember) sabers.

I really like the design My only advice would be to use brass piping if possible rather than PVC, but other than that, it's perfect

Its kinda hard if you mean for the end and emitter piece since i don't have a dremel. And about the power knobs luckly my mom works at a office supply/repair store and my dads in the printing business so i get all kinds of knobs and stuff form there work, even pvc pipe sometimes.

Ahh, I did mean for the emitter and end piece... If you haven't got a dremel, you can still cut a curve in an emitter by using a hacksaw to make two diagonal cuts, (more of a wide V shape) then work the metal back and forth till it snaps away, and then use hand-files to finalize the shape

True, i might do that but i want a curved end piece so that will be pvc but ill have to experiment.

Yes I agree with TanzanLinnear that metal shouldn't go with PVC...it 'cheapens' the whole thing.
If you don't have a dremel try to look for copper pipes which they use for hot water piping. Copper is a lot easier to cut and shape then brass. You can just cut it at an angle and file it round with a metal file. Takes a bit of work but it looks a whole lot better then painted PVC, especially when it starts to oxidize and get tarnished later, that is if you like that and won't seal it with lacquer spray.
The only problem I can forsee with copper pipe is finding one with an ID that match the OD of your other metal pipe...
I'm doing the reverse with my latest saber, i,e, using a copper pipe as the inner pipe and an aluminum pipe as the outer.

Might do that, but since this is really the first saber im making envolving metal im trying to keep it simple. Anyways i don't glue the stuff on i use screws so when i get my dremel for christmas i'll be able to modify it.

To be honest, metal is actually easier to work than PVC. Yes, you have to use more pressure to get through, but that is actually a bonus. A saw slipping against a metal tube while trying to cat through, might leave some light scratches that can be polished out, the same saw slipping against PVC will leave an untreatable gash in the tube. With metal, the amount of effort involved means you are very aware of exactly what you are doing and trying to achieve, so there is much less likelihood of a mistake. Best of luck with the project

Good luck with your 'parts hunt' Chances are you'll see things you hadn't thought of previously using For what it's worth, I'd advise against using copper tubing, as it's not particularly strong, and has a tendency to bend and deform... Brass pipe (or brass collored) shouldn't be too hard to find in the plumbing department

Could not find any brass or copper pipe that could fit my saber hilt, also i'll have to make a different emitter since the one i had doesn't fit. Gonna start on it tomorrow afternoon(shouldn't take long) and hope to get my camera charged and have pics up by next week.
