I want to get all my pieces for my new personal saber but I need a bit of guidance--I did look & read the tutatorials & needed a few other nudges. I've gotten the saber shaft it will be 1 1/4" diameter & 12 " long. the question I have would be what would be recommended for the ends, & the emiter--I'm not doing an el just a simple saber I can put on my belt for now. Also what would be a good glue or something to hold 2 6 inch pieces of metal together. I'm using brass colored pipe tubing. I know I can order some things from some places. I even thought of putting pvc with the brass but not sure how that would attach. I'm just looking for suggestions right now. Thanks

if you're gluing metal epoxy comes to mind in my book, i would go for the two-part stuff you can find in most hardware and automotive stores...
Ends vary greatly but the ubiquitous faucet handles and shower heads come to mind...

there are a few black rubber gas caps that will do nicely for endcaps as well. I believe they are for lawnmowers.... check out sabers from the big yellow box ( bigyellowbox.tripod.com/ ) for just about all you'd need to either reproduce one of the sabers shown there or fuel your own unique idea. It is a very informative site.

Looks good. Is the shroud (now I know what the term is) made out of what? it looks like paper. My sink tubes are 1 1/4inch in diameter because I couldn't find what I wanted in the 1 1/2 inch size. So I'm going to have to adapt some things to fit. It will be slightly smaller hilt but I think it will be easier for me to hold. So far I need to get epoxy, gas cap, faucet handles? What else will make good grips? I know there is lots of black out there but what would you use to have silver. I did go to big yellow box & looked & read what he has. If I don't make this to hold a blade then I wouldn't necesarilly need to put any bolts or something like that on it, except for the covertech clip bolt? I'm also going to check an rv store in my area, since they handle smaller kinds of things & see what they have to help me to. This is going to be like putting a 3d puzzle together, except the picture of it is in my head not on paper. It should be fun.

have you tryed tennis racket grip? It is an absorbant rubbery type material that you wrap on but since it does not have an adhesive on the back they want you to secure with the tap they provide.(personally i used electric tap) You can find it at walmart in the sporting goods department for about 3 or 4 dollars.

Hey good idea. That would keep both parts together & add a good hold to it. Thanks. I've also got plenty of electric tape here at home. Another good idea.

I used windshield wiper blades for my grips. You may need to purchase the entire blade assembly. Replacement blades may be hard to find. Remove the blade and its hard plastic back from the assembly. Now slide the rubber blade out of the hard backing. It is this hard backing that I used. Just measure the backing for proper length, cut with an x-acto knife and secure it to the hilt with double sided tape. This made a very good looking and functional grip for my lightsaber.

This was my first lightsaber: www.padawansguide.com/lightsabers_mine.shtmlThe end is a part from a lawn sprinkler. I had a hard time with the emitter and eventually found a part that the guys in plumbing didn't even know what to call (and I found it in plumbing).
