Well, it took a while, but I definitely think it's been worth it. I didn't rush a single aspect of the design or construction, and think this is definitely the best saber I've made yet. I'm especially proud as other than the purchased pieces, it was 100% hand made, from drawing and cutting the templates, to cutting and filing the venting. The emitter discs were individually glued together and then held in place by an internal support and the screws at the side of the vents. As always, thoughts are always welcome. PS The blade is green.

Very Very Nice Getting a curved handle to look good is hard to do, ive seen MANY pics on sites where it just didnt look like it fit. My question is, is it done? I see the bubble switch, but it looks like its missing "something", cant really say whats missing, just something to me. eather way, nicer then i thought from the first pics

Thanks I know what you mean about the curved hilts, the first one I tried to do just looked awful, this has come out much more as I wanted. I think I was lucky in that I started with a fantastic base tube. It is completed, I know what you mean though. I think it's partly because I've used the LED switch without a clamp, but also because the lower grip is so simple. I hardly did anything to it other than getting the length right and adding the end piece and the covertec. That said, I think if I'd done anything else to the lower grip, it would look too 'busy'. The thing I'm most pleased about (other than the finish of the cuts) is the detail of the emitter/upper grip, but sadly the photos don't really convey the detail and it still looks like ridged hose rather than the curved washers that it actually is ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Way cool dude!!!! I wish I could cut metal that straight. I always wonder off to the sides when every I cut my tubes. Excellent craftsmanship. Your skills are complete. I very much like the piece of pipe you chose. Being pre-bent saves a lot of head ache. I bow to you. ;DJedidad ;D "MTFBWY".....A

very nice, i am always glad to see the emitters like that, Oh and it did seem weird to me and when I first looked at it it looked incomplete, mostly because I'm not used to seeing LED displays with out clamps.

In some cases, I filed away nearly 3-4 mm of metal to get the lines back to where I wanted them I definitely think I was lucky with the pipe. When I first saw a link to one posted, I knew it would make a good saber very nice, i am always glad to see the emitters like that, Oh and it did seem weird to me and when I first looked at it it looked incomplete, mostly because I'm not used to seeing LED displays with out clamps. Thanks I know what you mean about the LEDs and clamps Personally, I find the clamps uncomfortable, and break the line of the saber, but I think the LEDs make more realistic activators than the red knobs of many PT sabers. Although it doesn't show as well in the photo, the LED is actually recessed into the body of the saber, not simply stuck to the top of it

Nice work! I think you are brave to do those cut outs in the tube. I often need a "practice" tube to cut on, since I sometimes mess up the first time I cut a sink tube. I think I'm getting better with that though.
I'd love to see more of the detail of the top part of the saber.

Yes, another jedi of the curved hilt... Hee hee, once you'd posted the link to the pipe, there was no way I could resist using it for a saber ;D Nice work! I think you are brave to do those cut outs in the tube. I often need a "practice" tube to cut on, since I sometimes mess up the first time I cut a sink tube. I think I'm getting better with that though.
I'd love to see more of the detail of the top part of the saber. Thanks I have to admit, another of my sabers had some pieces that were cut out by hand, so I've had a bit of practice with doing that ;D I think the secret to getting good cuts is down to several things... 1. Use a shaped tracing paper stencil (rather than just a line drawing) taped to the tube (that way the stencil remains in place even during cutting) 2. Take extremely small cuts until you are through the tube, and then cut gradually one way, and then the other. Don't try and cut it all as one long cut. 3. Cut with several mm of clearance so you then file back to the line you want As soon as I posted the photo I realized that as it was on a black background, the detail of the emitter is swallowed up, and it just looks like ridged hose rather than the stack of curved washers. Due to the closeness of the picture, not all of the angles can be seen, but I think this gives a better idea about the emitter

Thanks for the detail shot of the emitter.
I actually meant the top side of the saber where the controls are. I guess I didn't make that clear. But I, as I'm sure others were, also curious about the emitter.
Now, I'd like to see down inside the emitter.
And I still don't know what you are using for a blade. Unless you answered that in the other thread too.

No problem, here's a shot of the back side of the saber showing the inset activator, and one of the emitter from the top view. Hee hee, I did answer in the other thread, but I'll say here too, I don't actually use physical blades as I only want the saber hilts for costume use and don't ever use them for sparring, so any blades are rotoscoped in afterwards
