There are many ways to learn the ways of the Force, but only those who have joined it may know best.

I do remember a Padawan set that came out. The lightsaber was in mine was more like Mace Windu's (from TPM), though it came with a belt, comlink and padawan braid.

Yeah that was AOTC's Jedi kit. I'm thinking of:

I think I know another possibility. I forget what it was called, but I believe the lightsaber is from the set that came with an electronic probe droid. The saber isn't exactly dimensioned right, and I can tell by the pics that the saber isn't quite the same as the Jedi Gear. It's got more of a flat front, and there are small infra-red bulbs or something like that on it to help the probe droid find it. I could be wrong, though.

I've got one of those The saber is a fantastic replica of Qui-Qon's, albeit scaled to youngling hands. Funniest of all, the padawan braid matches my hair color perfectly

I think the 'official reason' for them using the toy in AOTC was that the training sabers were made in homage to Qui-Gon, who was the first known Jedi to be killed by a Sith Lord for a millenia. The real reason, was probably that the prop department didn't have time (or couldn't be bothered) to come up with a dozen indivudual training sabers

Well theres 2 sabers used by them, that one and a bastardized maul one. Truthfully I wager teh prop guys thought it was cool

Yes, that's true. I bet they did like it because it meant less work for them, but in all honesty, it really is an incredibly well detailed replica

Well the saber standing without packaging is clearly a metal replica and not at all the item in the packaging which is much bulkier with shallow plastic grooves in the handle where the energy cells would go.
I'd say for a fiver you struck it lucky. It would be great to find out what kind of saber this is, but the one in the pic (The real one he's selling) looks plasticky and not fit for a youngling.
I thought the original Jedi Luke saber was pretty awesome. Longer than the rest and handled really well. Hurt less than the MR FX version too (The handle rings dig into your skin)

Also the kids in the movie were probably originally holding carrots and ILM just overlayed a Qui-Gon saber image. ;D

ebay is good, but I have some problems trusting the people there, plus mostly everyone wants PayPal which I don't have nor will have any time soon, so i just wait and when a good deal passes by I try to get it but it's not always effective.
