OK here we go this is a dremel from home depot, I'm not sure if you consider this expensive or not because I don't know how much your will to pay, but here it is,
unfortunately I couldn't get the page up so here, click on the link and it takes you to the site and go and type the numbers, [glow=red,10,300]165010[/glow] in the search. look for the one that's $69.99 even if that's too expensive look at .
[glow=red,10,300](wow I've hit 200 posts)[/glow]

You can buy cheaper rotary tools, but I'm not sure of the quality. I used a Dremel and a drill to make my saber.
As for putting it all together, I used a combination of sheet metal screws, covered by screw caps, epoxy and pop rivets (another tool I used, the rivet gun).
I bought all the hardware at Lowe's. Everthing you see in my pics but the EL kit, which was from Lightech.

But I wouldnt have to use a pop rivet though. And if I got a cheaper dremel there is a tool so it can be used as a drill as well. I have an idea on what to make now.
the metal pip a pvc end plug and another pvs to make th emitter covering and stuff like that.

Don't worry, sometimes it takes the practice of making a few before you come out with one that you really like. There is a bit of a learning curve.
It took me till my third till I had one I was really proud of, which was my first EL saber, too.
Once you make one, you'll probably be hooked, and get ideas for more.
Think of it as a learning process.

I finished it and it dosent look bad but ther were two things wrong I guess.. The black pait ran a little so now I know I need spray pain instead and the end plug only went in half way. Im deffinetly gonna make another but Im gonna get two more tools and one Im gonna try a rivet gun. and the other so I can cut the pieces straight.

Well that's an accomplishment! I've yet to make my own saber entirely from scratch.... I've modified them, cut them, rewired them, but I have never designed my own. Congrats!

Thanks, althought i think I could do better.. And I am already hooked. I have many ideas I wanna try I just need a few more tools and some more metal tubing as well. Mabey after I get good at these I'll take a step further and actually get an EL kit.
