Ok. Im intrested in actually making my first hilt. I understand I can use PVC pipe, but what else do I need and is there a way to not use a metal cuter? I dont actually have acess to anything fancy.

A hacksaw will cut the pvc pipe, but a pipecutter will give you a much cleaner edge. I borrowed one from a relative to make a cut and it turned out very nice. It was super easy to use.

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Greetings Himiko Sabbrawrra, I am Jedidad from Western Tatooine, (high desert of Southern California) I was wondering, what kind of saber are you wanting to build? How many Republic Credits are you willing to spend? A saber can cost very little, depending on your imagination, or a whole lotta credits. Either way you have come to the right place for info. Below is a photo of a hardware saber I am currently working on. Check out the other posts on this site. A lotta people have great ideas, and we are all willing to help you any way we can. If you are having a problem locating parts, just post what you are looking for, and I know someone here will find it in your area. Till the next time. "MTFBWY".....A ;DJedidad ;D P.S. A Dremel type tool is very usefull in any prop building.

Himiko, Look in your phone book or google yellow pages search under hardware stores. There seems to be a lot of them in your area that would provide a vast number of items to use. Good luck. ;DJedidad ;D "MTFBWY".....A

I would check out the sites that Mon-Jas suggested, to get some basic ideas.
Then just go to your hardware store, grab a sink tube and wander around the plumbing and hardware aisles, trying things out to see if they fit or look good.
I have a Lowes that I love for that. I have gotten a lot of inspiration just from the specialty hardware cabinets!
Here are some pics of my hardware EL saber that I built in Dec. 2002, made from a sink tube, PVC and various hardware and fasteners.

himiko, If you want to know a good and probably the best tool besides factory machines to use is a dremmel, If you have one good, make it your best friend but if you don't I would suggest getting one, but for a PVC saber a regular drill might be OK but that depends on if you want to cut your PVC at a angle. and some type of Strong glue.
