My favorite saber is my most recent aquisition. I an working on an Aayla Secura (but it is delayed due to technical difficulties). So I comissioned Randomsabers to do a clan hilt for me. It has a 3 Watt Luxeon LED in the hilt which is plenty bright to illuminate the blade without any expensive electronics in the blade itself. The blade is detachable and the hilt is extremely lightweight! One of the coolest features is that Ryan at Randomsabers put rechargeable batteries into the hilt and it has a recharge port. I used the saber quite a bit during a 4-8 hour trooping day and still had plenty of power to drain at night before recharging it for the next day! I highly recommend both Ryan and the recharge option.

Here is my new saber. I ordered the main pieces from the Custom Saber Shop. From there I added a piece of drain pipe, a few O-rings, a covertech clip, and a piece of a bicycle hand grip. The light source is a Luxeon 3w. Turned out pretty well for my first real attempt at a saber...

Jedifay,
Did you get your LED electronics and blade from Corbin or TCSS? I am having Ryan make an LED saber for me as well.

Wow... a recharge port... that's clever! I'd really like to have that feature!

Fully agree with you Leda. My custom lightsaber demands that I dismoune the whole lower section in order to take the batteries out. I should make out a recharge port some day, it can be a real life saver in cons

Jedifay, Did you get your LED electronics and blade from Corbin or TCSS? I am having Ryan make an LED saber for me as well. I got them from Corbin. And I'm really happy with them. I got the lighter blade from Corbin. I don't do heavy dueling. Just light stuff. So it is plenty durable for that. It required a little e-mail back and forth between Corbin, Ryan and myself. I would recommend CC everything sent back and forth so everyone is on the same page. Both are great guys and great to work with. I definitely recommend the recharge port. And Ryan wants to do more of them in the future.

I want one on my saber now.
What would be really cool is if the port could sit inside a covertech clip. Since in the VD, the covertech clip is labeled as a charging port for a lightsaber.

Wow... a recharge port... that's clever! I'd really like to have that feature! Corbin has posted a tutorial on the TCSS site about wiring a recharge port. I linked to it in the prop electronics forum a while back.

In fact, you could find several guides and tutorials on Corbin's driver including a recharge port on his website: www.corbinscomponents.com/here's the schematics for a simple recharge port.

Good suggestion, Leda. I'll go do that just now.

I like the Graflex design, but I wanted mine to be a little different. I used alternating rubber and steel O-rings on the lower half.

phantom465, I like your variation on the Graflex grip! One of my great reservations about the standard Gaflex is the T-tracks used for grip. They're horrendous and they add such a bulky look to a saber. Those chrome rings really shine and they contrast well with the black O rongs. I am not a fan of replica sabers though this one does merit special attention. Well done!
