In case it was missed in my thread about it here is my lightsabre... This is a custom design of mine that I had crafted by Advanced Light Weaponry. It has full LED capability (creates a yellow blade) and possesses sound (from a Yoda MR lightsabre). All of the squiggles over the hilt are actually etchings, not scratches. The lightsabre measures out at 16.5 inches in total length.

I certainly hope so. I added length in order to fill out the rear grip. Many lightsabres are notoriously short on the rear grip and so I intentionally made the lightsabre longer in order to accommodate a full and comfortable two-handed grip. A standard lightsabre measures out at approximately twelve inches in length. My lightsabre is a full 16.5 inches long.

(bow) im looking into getting a saber from A.L.W. well worth the money do they have to use that switch box? No, you don't have to get that switch box from ALW. As I said, my lightsabre is a custom job. The box underneath the lightsabre was put there at my request simply as decoration. It doesn't do anything. The box has gold bars over black on the underside of the box and there are two small gems (one green and one red) on the side of the box that simulate LEDs. The activator plate on top of the lightsabre was a creation of Bob's at ALW. I liked the idea when I saw something like it on another of his lightsabres and so he custom sculpted a plate for me and made it unique to me. ALW can do pretty much anything that you want. ALW is a custom shop (he will not replicate anything). And so if you can dream it he can probably create it. My lightsabre was intended to be a fusion of all lightsabre styles and so I put the box on the underside of the lightsabre. Mine isn't a switch, though. The real switch is on top of the lightsabre... it's a sliding switch with a red crystal in its top.

Well, I like my 16.5 inch lightsabre. It's definitely unique. I'm not a fan of lightstaffs. I do like dual-phase lightsabres, though. My lightsabre does have two citrine crystals within it (when I'm not using the acrylic blade) as a dual-phase lightsabre would have.

cool beans i want to have both hands above the switch it just feels better that way... like with the mace saber i switch the saber off more then any other saber i have
so the switch would have to be at the butt of the saber for me

And for my lightsaber I prefer the switch to be close to the emitter and comfortably reachable with my front hand thumb or forefinger. That way when using a one-handed grip and carrying the hilt at it's balance point (close to the emitter) I can still reach the switch.
The beauty of this discussion is that hilt length, switch placement, blade color, hilt detailing, blade type, etc, are as individual as their wielders. There is no "perfect" length, style, switch, or blade type. Perfection is relative to the individual saber owner, and not absolute. Because a lightsabre does not meet one's idea of "perfection" does not make it flawed or inferior to that idea.
Every saber shown here took time, effort, thought, and money to create. We are best served as jedi to try and see these hilts through the eyes of their creators, and praise them for the beautiful works of art that they are, rather than find reasons to criticize them.
A public forum, while it allows one to be anonymous or an "alias" if you will, can be a place for harmonious agreement and encouragement as well as a place for criticism and dissent.
The wise jedi knows when to practice one over the other.
Food for thought.

Nice saber Nassik,
Yes Koda has a point everyone favors a design or prefrence, myself I perfer the length and layout of Obi-Wan's TPM-AOTC hilt or Quinlan Voss' as opposed to an Anakin or Luke.

Here's my most recent and favorite saber: It features a 3W luxeon and Erv's Crystal Focus v2.5 sound board. This saber has been in the making for many years. I first drew the design in high school and it has constantly evolved over the years. I submitted my design to Random Sabers in May 2006 and finally received it this past weekend. For more info on the saber, check out my myspace (homepage) blog entitled "So it begins..."

It's beautiful. --- Wow, just checked the Random Sabers board and Ryan's even bragging about the work on it.

Nice curves to the lightsabre's design. Those are unique. The recessed activator button is also a nice touch. I always have been a fan of the emitter shroud. Cool design. I'm glad that you've got it now. I understand the trial of having to wait while a lightsabre is being built. Congratulations on your lightsabre. There is truly nothing like having a custom one.
